Had to be this uphill blind par four with nothing but all kinds of trees and barranca with no sight lines at a par four at Mount Woodson east of San Diego, into a huge wind from the back tees.  First time I have ever played it and lost four balls and went back to the tee three times.  Left tee couldn’t find it, took a mental picture, tried to adjust angle of attack and repeat.

Had to carry 240 uphill into the wind just to make the fairway or it was lost down a ravine somewhere.  Couldn’t see the fairway at all.  Wind was a good 25 mph or more.  I was averaging 260-270 back then off the tee.  No room for error on that hole.

Hardest on a regular basis was 18 at Coffin GC in Indianapolis. Bowling alley tight with the river left, trees and water right. Tee shot out of a chute, about 440 I think. Turned a lot of 70ís into 72ís here.

The first par3 at The Pit (defunct). 220yds., no fairway, just a gap between the tops of two rows of pines.

#15 at NCR South in Dayton, OH consistently ranks up there for me.

It's a long par 3 that plays uphill to an enormously right-to-left sloped green protected by some very penal bunkers. It plays between 230-240 and is an absolute beast without wind.

#8 at Pebble

#18 at Ko'Olau (played it from the tips many years ago and mostly what I remember is a lot of forced 200 -240 yard carries.)

#18 Ocean Course at Hokuala.  459 yards and into the prevailing wind and a lake in front of the green.

#18 Augusta National GC.  It's way more uphill than it looks on TV.  It plays very long even from the member tees.

Ocean Course at Hokuala

Number 18.  The Virtues.  Nashport, Ohio. Par 4. 466 yards. Plays 510+. . Top 100 public course in USA.

Narrow severely sloped double bend fairway.  Tee shot played out of a Shute of trees. Entire hole plays severely uphill.

Narrow green cut on a diagonal into the hill. Visually non-existent from the fairway.

If the Wind is out of the East, in your face, well.....it goes from an incredibly hard par 4 to a par 5.  Itís essentially a par 5 anyway.

Great golf course if you ever get out that way. 40 miles east of Columbus. The tee is way back In the trees at the far right of picture

For me itís #1 at Spyglass Hill. I like to fade the ball and that hole requires a draw. I found the trees on both sides of the fairway. It didnít help that there was 20+ mph sustained winds with gusts even higher. Iíve only had a chance to play it once so the 10 I took is just so infamous in my golf history I will never forget it 🤬

Diablo Grande #13. 649 yard par 5. Have to hit drive to small downhill landing area with canyon on left. If drive hit perfectly second shot must carry about 220 yards of Canyon to a small landing area which will give you about 150 yards in to a green that slopes from front to back. The funny thing about this hole is there is no place to put the womenís tees so they have to play it as a 300 yard par 4. This course is located in Patterson California about 90 minutes from San Francisco.

One of my favorite places to play. #'s 8 & 13 aren't a piece of cake either. However, I'll have to say that #10 @ Pikewood National near Morgantown, WV is the toughest hole I've played. There's a good reason it's named "The Old bastxxx".

Hahaha!  Yep.  13 into a north wind is actually sort of stupid.   480 playing 520+.  Iím generally not a fan of having a wood or a hybrid in my hand for my approach to a par 4 after I hit my drive on the screws.  Just seems a little unreasonable.

8 isnít too bad if you havenít got a strong west wind and you can take the ďshortcutĒ and go straight at the hole over that waste area. Long carry though. Of course, if itís dry and firm and you hit a runner you may end up wet.

I wish it were closer. Iíd play it all the time. Your handicap would definitely ďtravel wellĒ if that was your home course.

#10 Blue Monster. Wind was blowing 20+ mph that day and I play a small cut off the tee with my driver. With the wind blowing somewhat towards, left to right it was just a recipe for disaster. Too much wind to go over the water and not much landing area left now. First tee shot the wind took and deposited it onto the range. All down hill after that.

Number 4 at Old Mac can be BRUTAL depending on the wind...  I've played it before and have hit Driver, 3 wood, 5 iron into the green.  Not a lot of par 4's in the world that are that demanding...

St. Andrews ..the Road Hole..17th....brute of a tee shot,to and angled fairway, over squash courts and out of bounds and an ever narrowing fairway..The approach is immensely tough to..skirting the pit that is the Road Hole bunker....
Ben Crenshaw said its such a tough par four that it should be a par five..

Easy one for me:  #9 at Pebble Beach  Par 4 466yards

To have any shot at hitting the green it two you have to play to the right side (ocean side) of the fairway.  You can bail out left, if you go far enough left of the bunker, but you are then playing into one of the smallest greens with the ocean behind and one of the deepest bunkers on the course in front.  In 2017 only 2 of 47 pros hit this green in two in the first round of the AT&T, played to a 4.7 average that day.  Overall average for the pros is 4.3.  Tough hole.  #10 is no slouch either.  Many times I have started the back nine under par (thank you #2,3,4,&6) only to give at least a couple back at 9 and 10. It is the most beautiful hole I hate.

#14 at Carnoustie is a beast ! It's 459yds par-4 from members tee !!
I played it into the wind, there was no way to me to catch the very well protected green in 2 !

It plays as an easier par-5 from back & Open tees.

+1 for that hole -- that thing is a beast.

one could argue that #5 at the black is brutal as well -- hit your tee shot as far right over the waste bunkers as you can -- b/c the further left you go in the fairway (and the safer route), you get a longer, blocked out second shot to a small green guarded by SERIOUS rough and greenside bunkers.

Par 3 - 2 at Isleworth off the Tiger tees
Par 4 - 6 at Muirfield off the Open tee (played into off the left the 2 times I played it)
Par 5 - 6 at Carnoustie off the Open tees
6 at Carnoustie is a brutal tee shot. Hit one OB left there, then flared one way right for safety. Makes you appreciate how Hogan threaded it in his alley 4 days in a row, a real accomplishment.
