From what I can tell on the Garmin site is they're basically the same size. Oddly enough the X40 is a fraction narrower than the X10. What I'm most interested in is the thickness of them. I've had the chance to try on the X40 and it was pretty good with the exception of a little bump out on the back where the heart rate sensor is. Since the X10 doesn't have that feature I'm wondering if that bump isn't there. I'm not interested in any of the extra functions on the X40 so I'm looking at the X10, but have yet to actually find it in any stores. Does anybody have one that can comment? For reference I have the original S1 and love the simplicity of it. The battery isn't what it used to be so I'm looking for something new.

Only seen the pictures of the x10 (have an x40) but it looks to me like the x10 is significantly thinner.   At least 1/2 the thickness, maybe even 1/3rd. Not only does it not have the HR monitor,  it  doesn't have the shot tracking, activity tracking (accelerometers and processors for that data), and no smartphone notifications (bluetooth).   Significantly stripped down from the x40 so needs a lot less electronics in general.

That's what I'm hoping for. I really don't want or need any phone integration or activity tracking so that would be ideal. I use Golfshot on my phone for score keeping so I would disable that on the watch either way. I just wish I could confirm the size with a side by side.

Could always call Garmin C.S. and get the actual thickness specs for the two.

In case anybody else is interested, I took a ride out to a PGA Superstore and compared the two side by side. The X10 is a good 2 or 3 mm thinner than the X40 and doesn't have the bump out. I know it doesn't sound like much but it's a pretty significant difference in person. The biggest difference is that bump on the back of the X40. I'm sure you get used to it, but the initial feel was pretty uncomfortable. I ended up buying the X10 and snapped a couple pics for you guys.

Good to know! I just use the X40 for the golf gps info and don't need all the bells and whistle's. When/if the X40 burns out, good to know there's a replacement for it.

Great to know.  I took my x40 off about 30 minutes ago to help my kids bathe.  I can still see the square imprint on my arm.  Lol.

How is the notification and silent alarm on the x10?  The x40 is awfully loud.  In a meeting everyone knows when I get a notification.  I don't even bother with the alarm anymore.  It wakes my wife up.  I had an old Fitbit that was perfect.  It shook hard enough that it woke me up, but didn't rattle, so no one else knew about it.

Doesn't look like it has any notification capability.  It's not just an x40 w/o the heart rate monitor.    From the specs it looks like it doesn't have any of the fitness capabilities or smart phone connection.  It's just a basic Golf GPS device.

The notifications aren't that important to me but I was hoping it at least had the fitness functionality.   I like the x40 but a slimmer version with just the HR monitor removed (and a slimmer profile) would be nice in my mind as well.
