Doing a family spring break trip to Beaufort first week of April. Looking for some advice on few good courses to hit. Going to be playing as a single early in the day before family misses me. Input appreciated, and any golfwrxers who might be be up for a round let me know.

The course at Parris Island is a good course. Open to the public, inexpensive, and would probably be a high dollar course if it was on Hilton Head.

I’ve played the Sanctuary on Cat Island and enjoyed it. A couple of quirky holes but was a nice course for the price.

If you can Chechessee Creek Club. One of the best courses I have ever played. Old South Golf Links has some gorgeous holes on the water. Lots of good golf in the area, Enjoy

Parris Island really is a decent course for the money.  The courses on Dataw are also nice.  Plenty of good public courses in Bluffton and Hilton Head (right down 170 from Beaufort), but figure on about a 20-30 min drive each way to add to your day (more if you go to Hilton Head).  In Bluffton I would recommend Eagles Point, The Crescent, Old South and Hilton Head National.
Do you belong to a private club?  If so, I would have a bunch of private courses to recommend for you to try and get on.

I don't belong to a private course in my area, so not able to have a local pro call on my behalf. Maybe next year. I'm sure I will be visiting Beaufort again, mom moved there in retirement.

Agree with Totalee.  The courses on Fripp are also fun to play.  Just don't stick your hand in the lagoons looking for your golf ball.  A guy did that a few years ago, lost his arm to a gator and sued the course.  :(

Ocean Point on Fripp is fantastic!  I've always enjoyed it.  Ocean Creek is a good golf course, but I've always enjoyed the holes on Ocean Point more.  If you do head out that way, stop by Shrimp Shack and get some shrimp burgers.

I would love to play Secession, I don't have any connections for that yet.

Both the Ocean courses on Fripp are labeled as private on there website. Is there limited public access to them?

It's worth calling out to Fripp if you want to make the drive out there.  It's more resort than private, so if you called and just asked what the policy/rate would be, if they aren't too busy at that time of year, which I would guess they aren't, you could probably get on.  Secession on the other hand, you would have to find a connection.

Played it many times and really liked it.  Haven't played it recently but will travel there in early summer and will play again.  They have gators, many of them. Fun, inexpensive course.

Had a unfortunate incident when first on vacation with a injured back incident. When I felt better at end of the week played the Sanctuary on Cat Island. Nice track for the price. But Seccesion sure looks picturesque driving by. This will be a area I will visit frequent with family moving there, so next time will be better.
