Here's the scoop.  Won a set of irons on eBay and all was well until I opened the box.  They sent the wrong clubs.  Sent a combo set of Epic/Epic Pro irons and wanted Epic Pro (wrong shaft too).  I get it, stuff happens and that's not what has me concerned.

They were sent from the USA and into Canada via UPS.  Which means I paid taxes through UPS.  Now when I send them back I assume I will get the money from the sale (PayPal) and the taxes back.  Asked for a return via eBay.

Two scenarios: 1) I just send the clubs back and get all my money back, or 2) they get the clubs back and send me the right ones.
Will I get screwed and have to pay taxes again if they send me the right clubs?

Hoping to hear from anyone who has gone through this ordeal.

Thanks to the mods for moving this to the proper forum.  I guess no one has any thoughts on what might happen.

This might be a question for ebay.  Usually the return shipping fee/fees should be reimbursed by the seller.

Given that you're paying the tax separately I suspect the ebay seller will only reimburse you the actual money you gave to them...you'll probably need to deal with the Canadian government to get the money back

I did a quick google search - this link might be of interest http://www.cbsa-asfc...p-prio-eng.html

Not sure what happens to any carrying costs that aren't tax (i.e. whatever UPS or FEDEX charge on top of the actual tax.

OP, sorry, but I can't help you.
But I must say, how freaking hard is it to get the right product to the right customer/address?
I had this happen to me a couple of years ago and haven't been back to Ebay.  I just refuse to hassle with it any longer.
Sorry you have to go through this because the seller can't manage his $hit.

I may end up keeping them. I actually got one more club (AW) and the shafts are Recoil ES F4 instead of LZ 6.0’s.  Can likely pull the recoils and sell them if I feel they are a little too firm.  I likely can live with the Epic’s in the 4-5-6.  I’ve got a few days to think about it.

That is probably the best course of action - I would just tell the seller and make an offer of say $100 refund to cover the hassle. That will probably be easier for them than paying for return shipping and having to relist. I've had this happen a couple times and usuaully larger sellers will prefer to make a partial refund as it is much less work for them.

Do you do this via email with the seller (via eBay email) or wait the prescribed time and ask eBay to negotiate it for you?

I initially responded to the "ask the seller a question" and not the "Return Item" notification and they only have replied to the former and not the Return Item email which would provide a shipping label.  First time I've wanted to send something back so I'm a bit of a virgin at this part of it. :(

Just talked to UPS and if I send it back, I have to go through UPS (with documents) and then they request reimbursement from the Gov't and eventually UPS will get the money and then get it to me.  I could be dead by then.
