Sorry if this has been covered here, but what is the protocol for finding fakes on eBay for sale?  I came across a set of 716 AP2 today and are, to me, obvious fakes.  I contacted the seller to give him the heads up in case he wasn't aware of what he was selling.. he asked how they are fake and I proceeded to point out the differences.  I didn't want to report it just yet, was hoping to give him a little bit of time to do the right thing.  I sent him a pic of the real club head for comparison just in case he still wasn't sure.

I guess my question is, do you guys report right away, notify the seller to give them a chance to do the right thing, or just let it ride minding your own business?  I don't want anyone else to get ripped off for not knowing what they are buying, always figure they could be a member here even though most of us are aware, but there are a lot of new people to the game that dont see the differences.  Would have been me had it not been for sites like this.  Here is the link, looking for any input.  Cheers!

Those shafts are typical in AP2 fakes, all the way to the logos being up.

I had to study pictures last night after seeing this post. Once you figure out what to look for, it's blatantly obvious they are fake. It is sad that someone is going to pay over $450 for fake clubs.

well, they're getting a little better on the font - though still fake. before it was both the Titleist script, along with the "tungsten" and "forged" font was way off. they still have the "tungsten" wrong but got the "forged" right - a little. the "R" on forged is still wrong.

What’s sad is they are totally unaware, and obviously don’t have resources we are luck enough to have. That being said; always taking a gamble on the bay (actually I shouldn’t discredit ALL sellers, but not buying from an authorized Titleist retailer whether on or off the bay)

I'd contact Ebay ASAP and let them know....and then at least it'd be off your conscience.

I reported it, hate counterfeiters. Plus I am not good like you guys and can't spot fakes so I would hope if I was bidding someone would report it and help me out.

Before the pitchforks come out its worth noting the seller might not even know they are fake, 5 years ago i couldnt spot a fake club from a real one unless i had them side by side, the pics and details are to clear from the seller for them to be aware i would say

This is absolutely true and I was/am still the same way.  I can't spot them all, but I own a set of 716 AP2 that came directly from Titleist so I can definitely see the differences.  Actually considering selling mine and I came across these looking for comps.  I let the seller know they are not real... his latest response was, "Thanks, I will look into it."  I was willing to take him at his word but only for another day or so.  If they weren't updated or removed I was going to report... seems it's already been done thanks to Buddhafsu.

I just reported it, too.... No sense in waiting for the seller to do the right thing.... it's pretty damn obvious as far as I am concerned.  Guess we'll see what ebay does.... probably nothing.

I'd guess that MANY more sellers on eBay with un-authentic products are unaware than those that are knowingly selling counterfeits. The problem is, for me anyway, when they are made aware that the item they are selling is positively fake, and they choose to leave the listing up. That's where my sympathy for an uninformed seller ends and I consider them just another scumbag selling fakes on eBay.

I reported them also, but I think it takes action from Acushnet to get eBay to remove listings, unless there's too large a number of people reporting for them to ignore. EBay still gets their cut whether the clubs are real or not.

Report them here as well.

I asked on Team Titleist if there is a place on the Titleist website to report and posted the link but I guess thats still waiting for approval.   This stuff bugs me...LOL

there is on titleists website. just Google titleist counterfeit and the link should be one of the first ones. you can post the link, seller name, item and a lot more info.

edit- on the website. scroll down to customer service and that's where you'll see it.
