I will be in the North Canton, OH area in early June for my sister-in-law's graduation. I can get away on the 7th to play. Where should I go? As many Ohio State emblems that I see around here I figured a good bit of you all might have some suggestions. I am going back to school in the fall so something between $50 - $100 would be great. My official handicap is a 16.5, if you are interested in meeting up let me know.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Okay got a couple for you.

The Santuary - pretty good not great but a solid golf course

The Quarry - which i hear is unbelievable

and

Tam O'Shanter - which is a 36 hole facility and I believe it use to host the Ohio Open

If you have to choose one I'd say pick The Quarry, a friend of mine says it's a must play.

Hope this helps.

He is absolutely right, and you will enjoy the course. It is about 5 minutes from the Pro Football HOF, probably 10-15 min. from where you are at in North Canton.

Also, you are not far from Akron, which has a ton of great courses from Firestone CC on down. Firestone is less than 30 minutes from your location, unless you hit the I-77 rush hour/construction traffic!

Wish I could be more helpful about specific courses there now, I live a couple hours from the old stomping grounds...

My top reccomendation would be Seven Hills, which is about 10 miles north of where you will be in Hartville. It's a very well maintained course as well, with a nice layout and is a decent challenge. The Sanctuary is a good little course and well maintained but I don't find it to be too difficult and is about the same price as Seven Hills. Sable Creek offers 27 holes as well and is about two miles from Seven Hills, but I would give it the same reccomendation as the Sanctuary, really open course without a lot of trouble. There isn't much to it, but Tam O'Shanter's Dales Course is one of my favorites in the area, for no particular reason and is fairly cheap compared to the others. I might advise against the Quarry based on your HC, it is a real shot makers course with lots of high grass, so you might want to bring a dozen balls with you. All of the aforementioned courses will be under $60 on the weekend. Oh yea you will not be able to get on at Firestone unless you know a member. You could also head about 15 miles or so southwest to Massilon and play the Legends of Massilon which also has 27 holes and is a pretty good course as well.
