"With Tiger Woods in contention on Sunday,  NBC's coverage of the Valspar Championship was the highest-rated non-major golf broadcast in nearly five years."

Yea I was reading some commentary Sunday night about how great Tigerís comeback is for golf. And yea itís great short term, but really itís prolonging the inevitable and itís downright crushing the momentum the Tour had been building with Tiger out of the picture. Iím a TW superfan so I donít give AF, but I also love golf and was really getting behind the new young guns (DJ, JS, JD, RM et al). This seemingly successful comeback is just completely sucking all the air out of the room for better or worse

It will be fine at the end of the day. If we are lucky, maybe Tiger and Phil can squeeze out another 5 good years going toe to toe with some of these younger players. We got a very small glimpse of it with Tiger and Rory at the Honda in 2012, Tiger and Rickie at 2013 Bay Hill, and Phil against Rickie/Rory at the 2014 PGA. Need more consistency from all the names involved going forward and it could be a very fun stretch for golf history.

At the end of thd day lets just enjoy the last few years of it.  Unfortunately without him there really isnt much draw to the non golfing fans.  Tiger just has the ability to draw those crowds.  My wife who doesn't watch golf was drawn in when he made the putt on the 17th

It will be fine if they are in contention.  Tiger can carry ratings on his own, but if Rory or Spieth were battling with him on Sunday it would have been monumental.

Part of the problem is guys play sporadic schedules and you really feel like you get a full field once in a blue moon.

TV ratings at the Valspar were higher than all the majors from last year except for the Masters.  Valspar is a 2nd tier event but Tiger's presence makes it completely different.  "NEEDLE"

He's a few tournaments returned from numerous back surgeries.  I'm still not fully recovered from my hangover last weekend and this guy is out there lashing 129 swings coming in second.  He gave me hope as I am about to turn 35 as I cracked another beer and watched him finish.

I was at work on Monday and a female co-worker said to me "Did you see that putt yesterday?" We chatted for a minute about it and I said something like "Wow I didn't know you were a golf fan."

Her response was "I'm not, but I was yesterday."

That's the Tiger effect in a nutshell.
