Hi guys...

Moving over to the Futura 5 shape for my next putter, the shape and alignment just seems perfect to me when I quickly tried it in the shop last week.

Iím torn between finding a good used X5 with the SS face or the current 5W with the wrap around aluminium Ďinsertí face.

Reviews suggest the 5W is softer but great to hear some views of people with both Putters. Iím coming from an odyssey o work #1 tank, and previously the SC mil spec 350g.

I have the Futura X5r. I flattened it 2 degrees and it is butter.  It is firmer but still soft.

I personally havent liked the feel of Scottys since he moved to the aluminum insert. There is a reason that 99% of his circle ts and tour players play Scotty's without the insert. X5 all day in my book.

X5 is the better of the 2 imho. I also may be in the minority, but I prefer the double bend shaft instead of the flow neck mods that have been common lately.

I'm preferential to the insert putters. I like the soft feel, and if you're coming from an Odyssey it might be more in line with what you're used to. It might have just been in my head, but with the non insert x5 I almost felt like the head was reacting to impact, a twisting like feeling, like torque on a driver shaft. Every putt felt like I was hitting it way off the toe. With the insert x5 I didn't feel any of that.

Thanks for the replies... I can find the X5 in the UK brand new, and am tempted, but can't find anywhere to try it out... decisions..!

I guess the X5 is going to feel more like the old Scotty Mil Spec putter I have, and the newer 5W more like the odyssey O works..?
