I played right-handed til I was about 30, because when I was a kid the only 'youth' sets at our club were right handed.  Made the change after taking lessons and the pro watched me hit a dozen balls left handed after I told him every thing else in my world I did left handed.  He told me if I could give up 2 years, I'd be a better golfer. He was correct!  The only switch I could not make was putting; stayed right handed all these years and it has made a WORLD of difference  finding the right putter in being able to just ask a fellow player "Could I try that?"
Too many times I have just ordered what I hoped was the right club because it was hopeless finding a demo. Had my current irons fit, and bought them HM 900's probably because it was one of only 5 left handed heads in the demo carts!

These days I try my best and only invest in brands that offer a reasonable lefty selection such as Callaway, Titleist, and Ping.

The one brand that I make an effort to avoid is Mizuno. Out of the major golf brands, they are by far the worst when it comes to left handed selection in particular their MP line. I used to play their MP-68s, which are outstanding irons. But those are the last blades ever made by them. They designate ONE MP model for left-handed players. "Nothing feels like a mizuno.... if you are right handed" should be their saying.

I understand smaller brands or niche models, but Mizuno is not a small brand by any means. They are a large, international brand that spans multiple sports.

This is total discrimination against lefties. Where are the human rights activists?

Living in a country where the shops carry just about the same number of LH clubs as lefties I have seen in 18 years...about 5  .  I always have to wait for my summer vacation back home before I can ever try anything :( . Though, being a foreigner and a lefty does get a little more attention at the range, or the shop :pimp:

My father tried to get me to learn to play right-handed as a young kid.  It wasn't until he bought me a set of left handed Armour 845's that I really grew passionate about the game.  It is sad, as a father of two little boys, that being left handed is such a disadvantage in the game.  I find myself trying to teach my boys the same way my father did me, swinging a right handed club.

Lefty here and only two things to add.

A) it does suck but I find we do get cheaper prices (less demand I assume)

B) it will be frowned upon in golfwrx land but Iíve been fitted once and know my specs. Now I just shop for something that matches my numbers closely and I put my favorite shafts in etc. Iíve gotten down to a 2.0 without getting fitted for all my clubs. Iím sure it might help more but you adapt to what is available and what you know.

I played in an event last fall and due to some no shows we had odd numbers and played as 5. I know, a wrx crime, forgive me. On the first hole I went last, and one by one each guy in the group stepped up left handed, I’m righty. Never felt so out of place on the course in my life. Couldn’t even share/tear clubs and putters with them.

As a lefty I was in a group at my league & it so happened that 3 of 4 were left handed...so we naturally made fun of the right handed fellow for standing on the wrong side of the ball & being backwards etc. Us lefties have to put up those comments almost every time we set foot onto the first tee, We thought we would have a little fun & heckle the right handed guy.

Went to play screen golf with my brother one night(he is righty). He takes his first swing and proceeds to snap the head off his driver. The guy who runs the place gives him a loaner that he immediately snaps the head off on the next shot. He is currently using an old Top flite driver from his starter set and my M2 is safe.

There are advantages to being lefty.

a UK leftie here and I get the same lack of choice in the major golf stores, however I am lucky enough to be a 40min drive from a specialist left handed golf shop that is attached to Silvermere golf club in Surrey.

when I first went in there I was like a kid in a candy store. they had Vega and Muira irons in stock along with all the major manufacturers.

now my other half frowns when I say I might pop over there as I tend to come out a bit poorer!

I have a good local shop, but their left handed selection continues to dwindle and the last two times they had to order what I wanted.  The local PGA Superstore is almost worthless other than hitting demo clubs in the bays (they actually have a decent selection to try, just not buy).  Unfortunately my tendinitis got so bad I have to have surgery on my left elbow.  It is still hurts 2 months after and I really can't swing left handed.  However I did try a few right handed swings with a weighted swing trainer and no pain at all.  I really hate the thought of starting all over after 20+ years golfing lefty so I am hopeful the pain eventually eases up.

It's all about costs. In the USA what like... 10% of golfers are lefty? Out of those 10%... how many actually really tinker around and try stuff out and get fit, etc? So you're probably talking <5% of the golfing population in America are lefty golfers who are really in a need to try a lot of gear. Companies aren't going to A) even bother making their stuff in lefty a lot of the time and B) the retailers aren't going to stock a lot of inventory because 90% of their consumer base wouldn't even buy it.

To be a lefty golfer and also a tinkerer you need decent amount of cash and a lot of time/patience. I'm very lucky that my local club champion has a good amount of lefty heads for the entire bag, and just about every shaft ever. I do not even bother going to a PGATSS or GG anymore because it's a waste of time.

If you really want a LH friendly golfing community, head up north of the border. Probably like 60% of golfers are lefty.

Lefties need to breed more lefties plain and simple. Take back the world. Tie our kids right hand and force them left in writing and sports.
.. Or we could just play Mizuno forged and not worry about it?

I do feel for you lefties.

I have a female friend that is left handed and she never shops for her own clubs. She only plays what her husband gets for her and they are usually older, men's clubs given to him from friends. I've searched and gotten her some ladies LH cobra hybrids and a ladies LH Ping Tisi Tec 7 wood. That Tisi Tec is her favorite club. I have never come across a ladies Ping Tisi Tec 3 or 5 wood. I did find her a Taylormade RBZ Stage 2 fairway wood that she likes, but it took a long time to find her one that was reasonably priced.

My brother is new to golf and left handed. Finding him clubs that are considered easy to hit and at a reasonable price is not easy. I got him a Tisi Tec fairway 5 wood and Ping Eye2+ wedges, but irons are not easy. Ping irons in his color code are more than he wants to pay or they are too beat up. I've also looked for Top Flite XL2000 irons (even more forgiving than Ping, IMO), but they are also too much, wrong flex, or graphite (he wants steel). Right hand? Dime a dozen.

I'm not making fun when I say that I'm glad I'm not left handed. My club collection would be much, much smaller if I was.

I don't know, maybe you guys are much more picky than I am, but I can find something that works in left hand, almost always. Sure, I drool over a few clubs that are right hand only, but the left hand selection is not as bad as some think.

Boo! This is all about plight lol.

My biggest gripe recently is that I did an iron fitting a little over a year ago and I really wanted to try the Cobra forged TEC but they weren't available. Apparently they weren't available anywhere in America in demo clubs. They were quite easy to find to buy but I really would have liked to get trackman data on them. I bought them anyway, and they've worked out well. I plan on another iron fitting this fall and we'll see what my options are then. I'm really interested in the TM P790, the 718 AP2/AP3, and the new version of the forged TEC.

I need Bridgestone to start being more LH friendly. Love my j15 cb but would love some wedges as well. Even to have the option of other iron offerings and more wood offerings would be nice.

I wish, just one time, that some company would release a desirable/popular iron or driver in LH only, and let all of the righties know what it feels like..

I played the Titleist 731PM's for two seasons.

Left only I do believe?

Yup, Left handed only. I just sold mine a couple months ago, I really liked those irons :)
