They look to be almost identical to the previous line, and the one before it, and probably the one before that as well...

I like Scotty’s as much as the next chap, but there will be talk when there is something new to talk about!

I agree with the above post nothing new to talk about.  90% of us hate inserts on our Scotty’s and maybe a different model or two would of been nice.   Scotty Cameron 2018 is a bust and I own my fare share of Scotty’s (non insert Scotty’s of course )

I was happy to see a lefty Newport 3. If it didn’t have an insert or the red dots I’d consider buying my first scotty.  Agree that the line looks like nothing really new.

I’m picking up the fastback. Not sure if this would be as good if it didn’t have the insert.

I was happy to see that too. I ordered one though. I liked the feel of it. I'm excited to get it in and try it on my bigmoss as golf season appears to be at least a month away.

Very uninspiring release. Nothing new or innovative. Scotty seems to be sending the message that he doesn’t care about the retail consumer.

I am strongly considering a Fastback. I liked the M1 but just couldn't get past the pop through cross alignment. I think the milled sight line will be an improvement.

That said, I hope he does go back to solid milled heads again. I don't see why there can't separate lines for solid vs insert putters. Maybe keep the Select line solid and the Futura line with inserts (even if there are similar head shapes in each.) I have a feeling they are gone forever, though.

Give me a break.  It’s a putter, only so much you can do. Why mess with the crazy success he’s had.  Shouldn’t have even done an insert.

I really liked last years M2, don’t know why I sold it, and thinking about a squareback. Rolled an M2 yesterday at PGA SS and love the look and feel.

Toulon putters sure feel good too.

Agree that there is only so much you can do to a putter.

But what pretty much everyone wants for them to do is go back to offering a milled face. Keep the insert line if you like, but can we please get a milled face without paying $4000 for a tour version?

Hate the feeling that the “real” putters are reaerved for tour or the gallery, and everyone else gets something less than that...

To be clear, I have nothing against the guy. He is clearly doing what works for him and his brand, and plenty of people still buying into the story. I have a bunch of older Scotty models that I love and will keep playing.

But there are other, better offerings coming out from other brands each year and they deservedly get more talk (re the topic of this thread)

Not a Scotty hater. Putted with a Mil Spec for 8 years. My favorite Anser style head of all time.

Just seems like the retail releases have been drawing less of my attention for years. I used to anxiously await his offerings now I breeze through them in about 2 minutes. Odyssey, Taylor Made, Toulon and a bunch of others seem to bring out some interesting and innovative designs whether head shapes, neck options, and/or groove technology.

I guess I'm on the other side of the Scotty spectrum. I've been collecting the OTR Newport model. I currently have the Oil Can AOP up to the 2016 Select Newport. I love putting with all of them. My favorite is my Sole Stamp Tei3 Newport which has the insert. Very nice feedback. I'm with the 10% that's not against inserts and love to see new materials added to try and get the perfect feel. As for solid designs my favorites are my Milspec and my 2012 Newport Select black color way. I still remember when they first came out like it was yesterday lol. If he did throw it back to solid head designs with some tungsten placements here and there that would be pretty exciting lol.

Anyways I'm excited for this years Newport. I like how he used the cherry bombs on the face sole and cavity. Interested to compare the topline to last years to see if the thinner top line works for my eye. The 30th can't come soon enough. Cheers

What's there really to talk about...  $20 more than previous model for an extra strip of tape behind the insert.

Personally I felt like they should have at least gave them a new color, even if only the inserts.

I had this argument on here probably 4 years ago with some Scotty truthers, and I’m haply to have it again: the Scotty Cameron putter is no longer a premium designed putter, and instead has become a brand you buy into because it legitimizes you in some sense.

If you like the select models of the last 6 years, that’s fine. I’m not criticizing you for liking what you like, but imo it’s no longer about the tool but the name on it, and has been that way for some time now.

This is 100% the case for anything off the rack. Once you get into the 009- 009M- Timeless (Circle T putters) then there is a distinct difference. NOT SAYING THEY ARE ANYWAY BETTER THAN A BETTINARDI OR PIRETTI OR TYSON LAMB AT HALF THE PRICE. There is definitely a premium paid for the name stamped on it. I am a just strong believer in you get what you pay for and the off the rack putters fail to impress.

The new line seems a little boring, and yet the prices seem to keep climbing with Titleist and it's partners.  2018 seems like a lazy attempt at something new from Scotty and I agree, should have at least went to some black options.  I don't mind the insert, I actually like it and have to wonder for those complaining about them, has anyone put any actual time in with one?  It took me a little while but found it to be one of the best feeling Scotty's I've tried except maybe the 2012/14 deeper milled faces.  Guess I am just in the minority there but will agree with the new line.... uninspiring.

I have to wonder though.... is it all part of the scheme?  I mean, I thought it was interesting how the 2016 came with the shaft sticker about "customizing your Scotty".  How much money does he make in that area?  I'm starting to think it's more than expected and maybe that's why he's not doing anything too interesting in hopes of people sending them in for a makeover.... I know, maybe a stretch but he charges a whole lot more to do what some other companies seem to do just as well.

I was looking at the 2018 Line today in person and was prepared to do my yearly Cameron... Mehhh, until I actually placed my big Ho’ing mitts on the grip and took a few swings with the new Anser2,Laguna & Fastback. Almost looks like the Fastback went on a diet. By losing the fat sight lines with a new skinny single line and shaping the view from the top line (looks like a silhouette of a blade from the front to rear flange) and by the four way sole that sits square on the ground, it looks and feels waaaay better. NOT a Scotty fanboy by any stretch (I play the EXO Two-ball & DJ Spider) but now am torn as to which Scotty WILL make the bag. The Laguna,  Anser 2 or Fastback? Anser 2 and Laguna had the same effect on me. Incremental but nice changes. Feel? Nice but who knows until I get it out on real greens...would not let me take pics :-(

I am itching for the fast back. Been waiting a long time for this head shape with a single sight line.

I don’t feel you will be disappointed. I was actually very surprised at how much I liked it and how much different it looked when I set the old one next to the new one.

Currently playing a Cameron GoLo 6, but was looking at the Newport line.  It looks much softer than past Newport releases, but might wait until there are a few used ones out there.  Very tempted though.

I was pumped for a LH newport 3, but the looks are overkill (3 sets of cherry bombs??). And if the new ones are 40% softer or whatever, then I don't think you will even feel the ball come off the putter at all, the 2016 range felt super dead already.

Bought the Newport 2 today after a back in forth with it and the Newport 2.5. "Feel" is 100% better than the last model and the club sits better at address.

Bought the Newport 2 today after a back in forth with it and the Newport 2.5. "Feel" is 100% better than the last model and the club sits better at address.

So it doesn’t feel mushy anymore?

Interesting I'll have to check them out. Perhaps the extra piece of two way tape will make a difference.
Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

I ripped off the insert from my previous model Scotty, added a piece of tape, then put the insert back on.  It feels so much better now...!
