I'm a Tiger fan, but I find it hard to believe they aren't juicing those numbers a little bit.

Then they are “juicing” everyone else’s also. Thus, Tiger’s is still the fastest.

Tiger has been consistently in the 180-184 ball speed range this year which is a more reliable datapoint. That is crazy fast when you consider his average in 2013 (the last year he won) was 175.

Tee shot on the 5th hole was impressive. 17 yards longer than anyone else on Saturday.

I think Jamie Sladowski is playing golf professionally now (MacKenzie Tour?). His highest recorded club head speed was 148 mph.

I agree. Club head speed is a nice thing to have, don't get me wrong, but scoring wins golf tournaments, not club head speed. I was more impressed with Tiger's short game than how far he hit the ball...especially that shot he hit to get up and down out of some seriously gnarly rough with no green to work with.

Well Yes.....sort of.   It may seem like splitting hairs, but that’s his max speed with a long drive club in a long drive competition. He can hit it over 400 yards.

He uses a shorter “gamer” driver to actually play golf and has a “playing swing” as well. He’s usually mid 300 yards in tournament play.

The turnaround with his short game has been incredible. He had legitimate chip yips at one point.

Astounding.  It seems like the only guys longer than Tiger in his prime were John Daly and Hank Kuehne.  That's some great company right there.

It would appear Tiger can hang with just about anyone on Tour right now and with what he has put his body through that is unreal.

I didn't realize that for Phil with the website stating he averages about 173 with his highest at 177. Of course the tour's website does not record all of the trackman data for some peculiar reason, so I'm not debating the 181 you mentioned.

Just checked and Sadlowski averages just under 129 clubhead speed with his "gamer" driver.

The point I was making was that club head speed doesn't win golf tournaments, scoring does. Yes, that's obvious, and yes club head speed is a nice thing to have, but at the end of the day it's all about scoring. If club head speed was all there was to it, the Tour would be littered with guys hitting it 350+.

Tiger has been consistently in the 180-184 ball speed range this year which is a more reliable datapoint. That is crazy fast when you consider his average in 2013 (the last year he won) was 175.

He finally gave into tech. thats where the speed is coming from. even in 2013 he wasnt using the best tools that were available to him. Deschambeau has 182 ball speed at this point as well.Very common to be above 180 the last 2 seasons. phil at 47 had 181 just a few weeks back...

These were on the cbs tracker. DJ had one at 186. Rahm had one at 184. it varies.i lived on trackman and you can tweek with the #s if its not positioned correctly. The newer 3 woods of all brands have climbed into the low 170s ball speed

You do have to remember that he was playing Nike equipment (specifically drivers).  He's not the only Nike Tour player who has seen significant improvement in their numbers by playing other (better) equipment.  Even the USGA noticed.

I agree. Club head speed is a nice thing to have, don't get me wrong, but scoring wins golf tournaments, not club head speed. I was more impressed with Tiger's short game than how far he hit the ball...especially that shot he hit to get up and down out of some seriously gnarly rough with no green to work with.

The turnaround with his short game has been incredible. He had legitimate chip yips at one point.

I know! That is another reason I was so impressed.

that was the carnage the golf channel folks like Shambolics and team were praying for. It's showing the tools what goes btw a champions ears...my guess is shambolics and team have no idea what that means...nor do I
