I have a couple Classic Scotty TeI3 Newport and Santa Fe.  The old Scotty are better, IMO.  The Betti's are nice too.  Ultimately, you should choose the one that gives you confidence over the putts or pride hanging on your wall...

Just did some extensive testing, wanted to like the Scotty, but ended up with a Queen B9.  I like the mallet style, and the feel, lines, and way I lined it up was better.  Try them all!  Slight arc in my stroke and came from a Odyssey proto #9

Bettinardi milled putters for Scotty Cameron until sometime in the mid to late 90s, including some of the Tei3s.

Currently gaming a Bettinardi SS2 (2015).  The finish on a Bettinardi is incredible.  Very precise details that help me understand why i spent so much on a putter. I have a full bag of brand new Titleist clubs from Vokeys, to Iron's , Fairways and Driver and I always get asked why I don't play a Scotty putter.  Honestly, the short answer is there is something about the newer Cameron's that look too mass produced.  They always roll and feel great in the store, but there's something about the finished product that just doesn't do it for me.

I've got both. Currently rollin' a BB1
I like the Camerons OK, but Bettinardi has really up'd their game the last few years, especially at retail.
As for Scotty, I liked the the older models- pre 2010, and the late 90's carbon models better than any of the designs since.

In my line of work, "First Article" means it's the first unit made or may mean one unit from the first lot ever made.

As far as Scotty vs Betti anser style... I find the blacked head of Betti to look nicer, but I've only ever been a fan of the feel of the Queen Bee (which isn't an anser). The old BB1 felt extremely firm to me and I wasn't a fan. Scotty's were softer and more pleasant to hit. Apparently the new Betti's are softer feeling but  I have yet to hit them.

New Scotty's aren't doing it for me.  Betti's have maintained that pure and clean look that Scotty has lost.  Not to mention the Betti's just feel better to me.  At the end of the day, I have both brands, but the Betti stays in the bag.

The "1st Article" designation means that it was one of the first handful (approximately) of putters that were made in that particular model.  Kind of like when Scotty Cameron does his first of 500 is the way I understand this to be equal.  I don't believe either increase the value in of itself.

I have a 2017 Bettinardi BB8 and without a doubt it is the best putter I've ever used.

I have been using Scotty putters since the late 90ís.  Always putted well with his old putters, but my pro platinum was stolen last year.  I bought the 2016 models and started with the Newport 2, because I always gamed it.  I struggle with it and didnít realize why, decided to trade it in for a Newport 2 notchback.  A little better and putted with it for the next 4 months.  Still my putting didnít return to normal.  Then it dawned on me, maybe itís the insert.  I never used an insert putter before.  I then bought a 2012 mint black Newport 2 which doesnít have an insert.  My putting is back to normal.  I didnít realize just how much the insert dampened feel on putts and made it harder to judge pace for distance.  So, I agree with others....I prefer the older Scotty Camerons without the aluminun inserts.

I'd definitely go with Bettinardi of the two options but if you're going to spend that sort of money, you shouldn't buy anything before you've given a Miura putter a try. :)
