Granted, he was giving him eight strokes, but still.

Off the top of my head, I can think of only about ten players I'd rather watch at The Masters than Knox.

He does play to a +2.2 or something like that so 8 strokes is a pretty large number.

I don't get why Rory felt he had to give him 8 strokes ... you would think the guy would have relished the chance play straight up lowest score - or better still, match-play against Rory. That would have been fun.

used to work at a club Knox is a member at. Dude stripes it, and uses a full TmB set even though he can handle the bladiest of blades. Getting up there in age though
Enjoy the chase.

8 shots and Rory isn't really expected to win. If he plays really well, he beats him and that's great. If he loses, it's because of the 8 shots. Not much pressure involved.

8 strokes to a guy who has  beaten Tour pros while playing as a marker.  Hmmmmm.  Now there is some funny math.  I hear Tiger only gave 1 a side to MJ.  :D

Seminole quote was pretty darn funny.

He was "forced" so guessing something good natured in all of it, maybe it was to balance out Gerry's side of the bet, maybe that was the losing end of some other fun bet down at Seminole.

How is Rosaforte not breaking the real story with all of his texting?

These guys operate in an alternate universe, lol.

LOL yeah forced to give him 8 strokes.  I think there was some good natured ribbing involved to get there.  Basically Rory would have to be gunning for a score in the low 60s?  Maybe gave him more of a pressure situation though.

+2.2 is extremely good but still only the best 10 out of 20 scores. I still think an average score (adjusted to difficulty of a course) would be a better gauge of how a good a player is and how many strokes should be given in a match. To me, it would be better to match Rory's average scores at Augusta against Knox's average scores at Augusta to get a more accurate spread.

Love the Seminole quote.  Anybody who can go in the Seminole pro shop and not buy something is stronger than any of us.  Small square footage but the selection of merchandise and that logo are second to none.
