God I wish the winter would just f*ck off. I`m so fed up of the weather and want to get out and platy some golf. It wouldn't be too bad if I was very busy at work, but it`s quiet at the moment and I`m spending too long on `WRX making stupid posts :-(

Just hit the damn ball.

Got three emails in past few days about courses opening this week. Woke up to snow this morning and more coming.

Happens every year, couple days pushing 60 to get you excited and then bam one last string of 30 degrees and snow in March.

I've been thinking that since half way through December. If I lived somewhere that expected snow and frozen conditions every winter I could probably deal with it. Find some other sport perhaps. But, damnit, the UK (especially the southern half where I live) doesn't expect anything more than a few flurries that can be largely ignored.

Normally I'd remind you to keep it classy but today (and this entire winter for that matter) is not normal. This winter can go to hell. It is my new mission to move my life to a place that never sees snow. Anybody here know what -50* feels like?? What a bunch of BU!! S#*T!!! We just started, and I mean just got a glimpse of + tempertures an bam, -27* and snowing this AM. Canada is stupid and our weather is stupider.

When the Winter Sun is out and I happen to drive by the golf courses, thinking how wonderful if I could be on it.

Many of my friends got to day dreaming when the Sun is out,  Even if the golf courses are far from pristine condition because of all the moisture we had had.   They go a little crazy when the Sunshine hits their office building's big glass windows.

This winter has been one big tease so far.   In my area it seems the snow hits on Friday and Saturday... keeping the courses closed until Monday Tuesday.... and then repeat every weekend.  I actually worked a weekend and took a long weekend and was able to play Wed and Thursday.   LOL It then snowed... and closed the courses for the weekend again.

We have had a great winter here in wa.  Have played all winter more or less with just a few weeks no go.  Fall form in March is a wonderful, and unusual thing.

I feel your pain OP, but ya gotta get out of town!

Went to Vegas last month, and headed to Myrtle next week.

My sanity is worth the time/expense.

We were also fairly lucky and able to sneak in a few, sloppy cold winter rounds locally.

Life's too short to miss what you love.

Good thing I'm really busy.  Golfwrx isn't helping as frankly not many threads have me wanting to read or post either (a good thing).

Clubs went away November 1 and are still at the club.  A putter near me so I can pretend to putt every once in a while (and boy does my stroke ever look good in the basement with no ball).  Not a simulator either or a swing.  Hope for a mid April start and great weather as am stir crazy too...

I'm assuming our inauguration comp is on the 7th of April so I also have five weeks. I've just booked Tuesday off as it looks like it might be adequate weather and I already had a dental appointment in the morning. But with Easter being early this year I've actually got 30th to the 6th on vacation(*). So that's eight days in a row to use as I see fit for practice. If the ground would firm up a little and even more important if I can finally get my new swing dialled in I could be in with a chance.

I really think that if my swing was properly dialled in I could knock at least three strokes off my score. I'm pretty sure my main problem at the moment is not enough forearm rotation on the take away. That would explain my relatively low iron flight and the pulls with the shorter irons.

(*)In the UK both Good Friday and Monday are public holidays so I get 10 days off work for the 'price' of only 4 vacation days. I'm not religious but I'm always happy to observe the days off :)

Was at the outdoor range Sunday. Booths are heated, so it makes it bearable when it's in the 40* . The gentlemen next to me and I both agreed . We are both tired of mats, hitting off the grass won't come soon enough.

Monday night I literally couldn't sleep after hearing a potential 12-15 inches of snow in my area for Wed! I went to work Tuesday super stressed out and in a horrible mood.  I felt anxiety and stress all day long.  I got home early and made a b-line for my course. Ran into the pro shop and the guy behind the desk said you have the course to yourself.   I went out for 4 hours and played 1 ball for score and then hit shots from everywhere!  I came home and felt like I did a drug... my fiancé said that she couldn't believe how much better my mood had gotten!   if we ever get a complete white out of a winter I will need to schedule golf trips from Jan until the snow clears

Living in Sweden and only hitting balls towards a net two hours a day for 5 months was just brutal.

The feeling, however, once the spring came and you could start hitting balls and actually see it travel more than 10 yards was absolutely amazing.

So instead of feeling bad, imagine how great you will feel once you get to hit the first shots of the year.

Hit balls outside in 55 degree weather Sunday, woke up Tuesday morning to 7 inches of white fluffy crap and an email saying our trip for this weekend is canceled because the course had to close down from too much rain/snow.
Buying some unnecessary stuff on the BST helped with some of the misery, but I’m still sitting in my office watching snow melt and researching jobs in places that have never known winter.

Here in Cali we've got the weather, beaches and mountains. Oh, and some beautiful forests. That's not bragging because that's all we've got, literally, that I like. I did take the wife and kids up the hill last weekend to make snowmen and mentioned to my wife how much I'd love to live somewhere where I didn't have to fight massive crowds and traffic to enjoy the snow a little. Then, I realized that probably describes a lot of you guys where you've got plenty of snow to go around. I feel for you as far as the snow keeping you off the courses. I'll not gripe about "frost delays" any more...

This winter has been particularly stubborn the past coupe of weeks. Just warm enough to melt the snow and make everything muddy, and then snow for 2-3 days after. At this point I have been leaving my car running while at home and driving around aimlessly. My kids will thank me when the average temp is 15 degrees warmer, and they can golf year round.

Oh wait.....

I came into this thread thinking it had something to do with taking money out of savings without asking the wife to buy that new driver you "just had to have".

Nevermind......

Med - saw that you guys had some temps in the 50's...you surviving that brutal weather?

Outside of Boston we just got another 8+ inches of the white stuff (with some areas getting a lot more than that), with a  few inches of rain beforehand just to make it all the more marvelous outside.  Trees are dropping like flies due to the heavy snow, along with loss of power, etc. in a lot of areas.  The only good thing is that the sun (when it shows its face) is higher and the snow will hopefully melt quicker (although just heard there's another storm coming next week).   Don't think we'll see any real golf until close to April now.  Although I really like range time I would really like to get out to play a real course and that's just not going to happen any time soon from the look of it. And that's depressing!!
