It's only been 4 years of lurking,  so I figure it's time to make a post here.....

Here's my 2018 minimalist set up:

Ping i200 4i - Modus3 Tour105s

Ping iblade 6i 8i PW - Modus3 Tour105s

Ping Glide 54* - Modus3 Tour105s

Lajosi DD201 WB 370g Stainless

All stuffed in a 2018 PING Moonlight This replaced the Taylormade due to peer pressure from this thread. :help:

Nothing too crazy by WRX standards,  but it was fun to put together.

I went with the iblades for their combination of looks and forgiveness.  I hover around an 18,  and had never had any luck with anything other than shovels until I gave these a go.  The i200 gives me similar looks with even more forgiveness in the 4i .

What's your thinking behind the stripping of the 3 wood. Never seen anything like that.

I'd like to say it was an expression of my creative individuality.  In reality,  it was in response to a massive skylark I put on the crown when I got underneath a tee shot.  I decided to strip it before I threw out, and see if I liked it.  It's growing on me, but I'm not 100% sure I'll keep it.

Great bag.  How do you find the Modus perform between the i200 and the iBlades?  Does the 4 iron launch considerably higher?

Very nice set up.

Also a lefty, been a minimalist for at least 5 years.

Usually a 3W 5,8,PW and putter.  Sometimes, I'll add a driver or SW, sometimes omit or exchange.

Never more than 7 clubs.

Need a Ping Moonlite.  Those clubs just look funny in that bag.  :)  It's like they are trying to jump out and scream for the ghost of Karsten Solhiem to come save them.

If you decide to switch bags ever look into a Jones! They are awesome for minimalist set and very good for walking. Cool setup here. Really wanna do something like this to keep in my work vehicle when I rush to the course after work.

I went with the i200 for the 4 iron to add a little forgiveness.  It was a late addition last season,  but on first glance, I didn't notice a considerably higher flight.

Oh if only Ping made a structured Sunday bag....   I hate owning anything Talylormade,  but this bag is unfortunately perfect for me.

OK,  so bowing to peer pressure.....   I went and checked out the Moonlight this afternoon.  As much as I truly hate Taylormade,  I have to say the quiver is a near perfect Sunday bag.  The Moonlight felt as if I was holding my wife's purse on my shoulder.  I grabbed 7 clubs of the sales rack,  and it left awful.  I'm a die hard Ping fanboy when it comes to clubs.  but have to take a hard pass on the Moonlight.

Ping L8 Stand Bag is great. Perfect minimalist bag IMO. Basically a structured Moonlite with a stand.

After Ping could not fulfill my Crossover order.  (shaft no longer available) the i200 4 iron went back into the bag.  I decided to console myself with a 2014 Rapture 3w purchase,  and a new Moonlight (I just couldn't stand owning something Taylormade)  New pics coming this weekend!

Will do.  my first experience with will hopefully be this coming Sunday.  I'm iffy on the fit of the red fur head cover,  and will be seriously disappointed if it doesn't end up working out.

I resisted on the Moonlight originally because it felt really unbalanced on my shoulder in the store (I'm a single strap guy all the way).  I read elsewhere that this effect got much better when the pocket was loaded with its various paraphernalia's I decided to give it a whirl.  It feels much better at home now that it's full loaded.

Well,  after some in's and out's. I'll start the season with just the 6 clubs.   Using a combination of Matt Saternus' "How to break 90"plan,  and a simple PAR+1 philosophy, I hope to be able to settle into the mid 80's with this little set from the white tees at my club.  Now if we can just get the rest of the damn snow off the ground I can get started!
