Awesome idea, someone should replicate the idea with shafts as well.

I think a site sponsor does that.

They must be banking on the new club effect. Where people experience really good results the first time out. And then proceed to purchase it. Because otherwise it sure seems like they would be losing a lot of value by sending out new clubs that are then used when they come back.

Its a neat idea and good for a lot of golfers. I hope it works.

That would make more sense. But in post #21 it says they send a new club. And it sounds like information came from the website. I don’t know.

lol, if that's the case than read as: they're sending out their "returned" club inventory for another round of demo bashing, if they can turn enough in sales by doing this than they just might make a go of it for a while.

Their FAQ states they will only send brand new clubs.

I thought about how they’d ever make any money but now I have an idea.

MAP probably keeps them from selling brand new clubs for below a certain price. For the most part though, I’m willing to bet most of their clubs are going to get back to them in mint condition. They can clean them up to make them look nice. So now they can offer those clubs in like new/mint condition to golfers who want to purchase them at a price above their cost but well below MAP.

Customer gets a steal, the company moves more inventory at almost artificially low prices for practically brand new drivers.

That’s my line of thinking on it anyway. Only one way to see if their model will work

It's a pretty cool program. If  you haven't checked it out go to the website and click on frequently asked questions. It answers a lot of the questions that Have been asked above. They appear to be being very generous with the club. You get a new club. They only charge you if you have significant damage to the club. There are some minor charges for broken adapters, shaft issues and other things but very minimal charges unless it's totally destroyed.

Honestly, I cannot see how they are going to make out on this deal. But for sure I will be giving it a try.

Yeah I have no idea how they'll make out on this deal so its $25 and that covers the 3 day shipping potentially for both ways?  And they give you an Arccos driver sensor for free?   I dont get why they wouldnt get back drivers after demos and put INTO rotation they can potentially be stuck with a lot of slightly used drivers.   I just think its crazy to send out brand new drivers.

Ok yeah that makes sense they can get driver back in "like new" condition and sell for less than retail.  However, $25 wont really cover depreciation between new and "like new".

Also is that true you get a Arccos driver sensor for free and you can keep regardless?

wow. God bless them for trying to take this one on. large amounts of demo clubs are an absolute bear to deal with, even when you have them all at just one location. tuning into this thread to see if they can sustain this program, it's definitely not gonna be all roses for them.

and just so you all know.... people will damage these clubs, they will be breaking these clubs, they will be modifying these clubs, they will be stealing/switching parts off these clubs, they will  be commiting fraud and outright stealing these clubs. anyone who thinks or says that none of that is possible has never worked in the golf retail industry.

Yes, this type of stuff will most certainly happen.  It never fails to amaze me at how people can wreck demo clubs...I see it almost every day with our demos.  I've been curious about this program by Global Golf since I first got word of it, and I honestly don't know how it's going to be a positive for them.  They are going to end up with tons of used returns that they can't sell for new prices.

They do have a well-established online and ebay presence selling used clubs, so they have an outlet for the returned clubs. They won't be dumping them wholesale.  "Like new" used clubs may still fetch close enough to dealer cost to make it work for them, along with the rental revenue and the sales they make.

Would love to see this service with a set of irons.  Interested to hear from others how easy it is and whether there are any horror stories getting charged for “abuse” upon return.

Golf store in my area has a program where for $20 per set/club you can take out demo irons/woods for 3 days.  When you return them the $20 becomes store credit good towards any club purchase.  Great program to test clubs out on the course in real conditions.

Looks like they are selling the demo returns for only $20 less than new. So either way they are probably making decent money on the program. Plus it gets people to buy and trade with them vs their competitors.

lol. to save a lousy 20 bucks taking a crapshoot on a "demo" stick that has had lord knows what done to it is an absolutely bizarre purchase decision.

IMO any value (and it's still debatable and still based on condition of the particular club) in buying "demo" is when the savings start reaching 40%, 50%, 60% off.

I rented 2 Rogue drivers from Global Golf in the U-Try Program, kept them for 2.5 weeks for $50.  They sent me brand new clubs, returned them in great condition.  I would of bought one, but don't like the stock shaft options they offer.  So what I did, I rented shafts from ShaftShack.com Oban, Graphite Design at the same time and was able to demo shafts/heads outside, on the course and range, which I would not be able to do any other way.  Both of these companies were of great help & I will be getting 3w and hybrids and other shafts to demo through both companies.  Phil at ShaftShack is very knowledgeable & the people at Global Golf let me keep the drivers for a couple extra days due to bad spring weather here in NY.  Could not be happier with this experience.

I also hope for the success and expansion of this program to include more models and more configuration of their "Demo" clubs. This type of mail order demo program has worked very well in the tennis industry with online retailers. But the hurdle with golf clubs is that there are more configurations. A huge percentage of golfers do not have the knowledge, patience or skill to "fit" themselves. So I can see this program reaching out to an underserved population of golfers (who don't have access to demo clubs). But I also think that there is huge benefit in seeking "professional" advice on club fitting. I think to really make this type of program beneficial to golfers in the future, it has to be paired with some type of "fitting".

I wonder how it works if you decide to buy. It sounds like you just keep the club, but that means you just bought a demo. As I highly doubt they are going to send everyone a new in the plastic driver just for $25. They would take quite the hit trying to sell all those used clubs. I would think the club you receive to demo would have been hit before. Meaning if you keep it, you just bought a used club.
I looked into it a little and they claim you will always get a brand new, never been hit before club.

I tried it for funsies with a Cobra F8 fairway. I hope they can make money off of it because it was easy, fun, and satisfied my urge to try things without making me constantly take a bath on clubs.

The F8 did not beat out my Ping G fairway, so I sent it back. But I'd definitely use it again and gave them good feedback on it.

Nice find too bad there is no place where you can try JDM equipment out first before you buy

gave this a go.  M3 440, Tensei White X is coming Monday.  I am pretty excited about trying this out for two weeks for just $25.  I will share my experience at the end of the month.  I agree with some of the comments with their ebay and used club distribution channels.  There has to be a way they are making money on this or they wouldn't do it.  They know about GOLFWRX and how crazy we all are.

Making up stats but fun all the same:

- Normal customer purchase rate - 85%
- GolfWRX purchase rate - 5%

Sweet deal! Srixon has a similar demo system for their clubs with different shaft combos to try. I am fortunate and live near The Golf Warehouse and they have almost any club you can imagine which is nice.
