For me a Bridgestone J33R with Matrix x-con. A spin killing combo that hits bombs.

Being just north of 30 this year, my knowledge base only goes back so far, but my junior year of high school, which was 2004, there was a kid who's dad had some serious Taylormade connections and was, at the time, the most awe inspiring driver of the ball I had ever seen. He played a 300 Tour driver, the deeper faced one with TOUR on the sole above the center plate. It had the most awesome looking shaft I had ever seen, which I became to know as the Tour ShaqX. I did some research and found out these things were only available on Tour and were selling for as much as a crappy used car at the time. I wanted to hit that driver so bad that it started my equipment obsession. Unfortunately I was never able to own one at the time and did eventually pick one up years later for under $100 just to see what it was all about. I actually still have it.

For me, the first really iconic driver I ever owned was the following year. A Taylormade R510 TP driver with a Speeder 757. It changed my entire driving game and was a million miles better than anything else on the market at the time. I still have that head as well. This thread is giving me an idea for a vintage test. Hmmmm.

Yes please. Vintage testing would be interesting to me

I was thinking the following, because I actually own all of these clubs.

300 Tour
R510 TP
R7 Quad
SuperQuad Prototype
SuperDeep
M1
M3

I think that would be a nice little competition of some of Taylormade's all time great drivers. I played a Titleist 975J and before that a 975D as a kid. The D was the first real driver I ever had outside of hand me downs from my dad or uncle. I'm sure I could grab one of those oldies for $20 and include that too.

TM X300 FCI with Rifle 6.0.

Maybe my best combo ever was a 983E with an Apache orange crush.

The Shaqx was an awesome shaft.  I had a Shaqx and a Bleex.  My understanding was the Shaqx was a very heavy and stout shaft (named after Shaq) and the Bleex was a light weight super low launch shaft with a lot of kick (named after Bruce Lee).

I have to agree with what a lot of people have said.  The R510TP was something else.  I had a tour issue one I lucked into (eBay) and came was a 10.5* that was about 15* open.  My classic driver though was the 983k with a Prolite and the 905r with a V2.  Some of my best driving days ever were with those.

My favorite that I still have is my Hibore XL Tour with a Diamana Blue 73, that thing is still the straightest driver I've ever hit.  The Hibore style of club was painfully underrated in my opinion.  Too bad its about 40 yards shorter than what I have now.

Titleist 906 Fairways with either the made for Blueboard or the VS Proto.  Now that's how you do a stock pairing.

Been mentioned a bunch but my current gamer is R510tp tour issue with the 757x.  Man, what a club.  These new offerings look hideous in comparison.

R580XD Tour Issue with a 757 or a Blueboard...

The 757 was a bit stout for me so I reshafted with a Blueboard...I still bring it out here and there.

My fav 2 oldies are:

Ping G2 with NV-65 green. (This was a fairway finder)
TM R360 with UST Proforce. (I hit some ridiculous drives with this thing!)
