Lebron>Kobe
Lebron>Jordan.

Jordan had skill, but was a little on the skinny side. I think the physical power and strength of Lebron is what resonates the most with me. 6 foot 8, 265+lbs.
Kobe was a playmaker, very impressive. A little too selfish for my liking though.

My ratings based on who I have seen play. I cannot rate guys like Russell and Chamberlain because I was too young to see them.

Jordan is the best, Lebron is #2, Magic is right behind him, Kobe is fourth, and Bird is fifth. Magic and Bird were both great and their highs may have been higher than Lebron and Kobe, but Lebron and Kobe were able to sustain greatness over a longer period of time.

Jordan only got to 6 finals? Need to get to at least 7 to be a candidate for greatest of all time.

LeftyLuck, i think you said in another thread that you just turned 18. This means you never saw Michael Jordan play in real time....I'm 36 and have played and watched basketball my whole life. There is simply no comparison between Lebron and Jordan, if you think there is than there is almost no point in even discussing this with you, because there is not, and i think Lebron is awesome

Lebron is amazing, a top 5 player ever there's no question. But Jordan was a pure maniac. During his title runs he was so dominant that when Rodman said "this is a coronation, not playoffs" nobody even questioned it. Once he figured it out and had Pippen also in his prime as a sidekick, he was simply unbeatable.

I've watched Lebron lose to the Mavericks playing with Wade and Bosh in their primes, watched him tune out of series's versus the Celtics and later the Spurs. Lebron is great, great , great, but Lebron wants to be a businessman, control behind the scenes as much as on the court, control his narrative. Jordan existed to beat anyone and everyone at everything. He might have lost some series under different circumstances but he always went out like Scarface. Not passive aggressively trolling his own teammates by refusing to shoot

There's a story from the 1992 olympics where Clyde Drexler was so terrified of Jordan , that he showed up to practice wearing two of the same footed shoes, and refused to change them because he was so scared Jordan would find out and never let him hear the end of it. The legend was that Jordan got so angry at comparisons between him and Drexler that he set out to destroy him, and did....and Drexler was really, really good. But he went a whole practice wearing two wrong footed shoes so Jordan wouldn't find out

There's another story of Paul Pierce coming into the league and trash talking a then-recently retired Jordan, who was watching a practice during summer league. Jordan was 37-38 at the time. And when he did this his coach came running over and yelled at him "NEVER SPEAK TO HIM"....he was late 30's and retired LOL

Jordan TERRIFIED people. You can't just appreciate it if you didn't watch it. If he didn't retire the first time he would've won 8 titles in a row in the modern era.

You are right. I never got to see Jordan in real time. I'm sure I am a little biased due to this. I stick by what I said though. Maybe you think Jordan is better. Thats fine. But to say there is no comparison? I mean, LeBron is in the conversation I feel. Regardless, thanks for the insight. Jordan did/does seem like a leader on the court.

But unstoppable?. Pistons? Knicks? the John Starks dunk. What about those?

Leader on the court?   No, The GOAT!!!!
1995 vs the Magic. Care to explain? Nick Andereson!

You had to see it....I don't mean to be condescending. You just had to see it in the moment to truly understand the hopelessness of the other teams, especially during the second three-peat. The first three-peat was a bit less so especially because the Lakers series he hadn't won yet. But the Blazers and Suns were more towards maniac Jordan levels

But the second 3-peat? Dear god.....i've never seen anything like it in sports. The scores didn't matter, the Bulls were like a cat playing with a near dead mouse. I think they let the Sonics win 2 games on them just for fun, maybe because Rodman wanted to gamble in Seattle i have no idea. Same with the Jazz. Those teams never had a chance. Jordan had reached psychotic levels by that point, if he needed to he just would've hung 55 on Bryan Russell in 4 straight games and no one anywhere would've doubted he could do it.

I've never watched Lebron and felt like that. I've never watched Kobe and felt like that.

You're right that Pippen was underrated. Scottie is an alltimer. But the best comparison i can make is imagine the Warriors last year, how everyone knew they would win and the finals was a foregone conclusion. It was that for 5 of the 6 years. Except they didn't have 4 allstars. They had Jordan and Pippen

I watch LeBron and felt and now have seen that he could carry a team. That hustle and block on Igoudala (Sp) was clutch to say the least. Maybe MJ would do it, but I don't see Kobe running down like that.

Yeah i mean i think Lebron is awesome like i said. It's by no means trying to bash Lebron, except a little bit in that i think when he sees the writing on the wall he mails it in a bit.

There's no shame in being like, the 2nd or 3rd or 4th best player ever. Lebron's play in the GSW finals the Cavs won is one of the pantheon performances in NBA history.

From someone who still remembers Willis Reed's heroic performance, was a die hard Celts fan pre-Bird (and of course during) and wishes Pete Maravich had gotten a lot more air time when young, I won't argue Jordan v. Lebron because I just don't watch anymore.

BUT, after my all time fav Bird retired (and I won't start any arguments about his place all time) the only reason I kept watching was Jordan (and was still playing a little myself). A beast. Stories of their practices are legend. Just a stone cold killer. Like Weiskopf said about Nicklaus, he knew he could beat you, you knew he could beat you and he knew you knew he could beat you. Dedicated, ruthless, competitor.

Game has changed, don't keep up with it, but have a hard time seeing anyone being touted as all-time ahead of Jordan.

And who the f threw Kobe into a conversation about the top 3, lol.

Jordan was a finisher, plain and simple.

Like Hawkeye, I'm a huge Bird fan. I hated everyone else. And I'll set myself up to be flamed, but after Jordan, I'm going Magic. And I really, really hated him and the Lakers!  I truly believe no one in the history of the game as made his team better to the extent Magic did. And how many point guards move into the center position and hang 42 on the other team?  That fat bastxxx! And a running 15' hook shot!?

LeBron is a physical marvel and will rightfully go down as one of the best. But to me, Jordan, Bird, Kobe.......they always wanted the final shot.

LeBron does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Michael Jordan.

If there is someone else entering into the same category, it is Lebron, a testament to his play.  But Bron does not possess the same fluid offense and skill that MJ does.  The only thing Bron has that MJ doesn't is size, which you could say gives him the ability to defend a bigger player down low, that's it, Bron does not use that size to get easy buckets down low on the post, not his game.  MJ made it look easy, effortless.  Bron looks like a battering ram at times.

MJ is the best I've ever seen.  Always knew he'd play hard, and usually win through ability and mental toughness.

Lebron is probably the most physically gifted, but he takes too many games off of max effort and his passive aggressiveness make me not like him, at all.  Don't need him telling the public how basketball 'smart' his brain is.   What happened to the team he assembled?  What a B!?ch!!

Can't wait to see Lebron lose another final to Golden State this year.

One of my favorite MJ plays!!!
