Hi guys,

Is there any point of getting the new F8 One Length irons for $799 + tax when people are selling off near brand new F7 One Length for $300 shipped?

I have tested the new F8 One Length and I like them, but I don't have the ability to test the F7's and if they are going to give me similar numbers, then I don't see the point in spending all the extra money.

Has anyone tested between the two and can offer some insight?

Thanks!

Haven’t tested either one, but I play single length.  The improvements they’ve made to the F8 are very smart. Unlike the usual dubious claims for new clubs, the F8 should be a true upgrade. (I’m strongly considering them.)

The differences should show up in trajectory more than distance.

Snowman is correct. I just ditched the F7, as the lower lofted irons had too low of a trajectory and the higher lofted irons had WAY too high of a trajectory. Reportedly, this has been resolved with the F8.

Fixed the lie issue as well..shorter irons (I.e higher numbers) are flatter and long irons a little more upright...along with the trajectory changes would recommend f8 over f7

Under construction....

Iíve been wondering this as well. I know theyíve put the Arccos system in the F8s which is definitely valuable addition but if itís the only major difference, Iím of the same mindset as desm0nd.

Thanks for the insight here. I assume the same is true of the traditional set as far changes/improvements?

The F8s are worth the upgrade. Trust me. I would never dream of playing the F7s but the new F8s could seriously push my Forged TEC out the bag if the launch and spin numbers could match.

This is a very weird, but cool, niche.

If they solve the flight issue, this will be the biggest thing (for weekend golfers) to golf since the graphite shaft or non-wound ball.

Very cool idea and blending of tech.

As a short bag golfer, this is something that I am keeping and eye on.

They have very smartly set the centers of gravity for each head to help with trajectory goals.  This is an improvement over the other brands where the heads are the same basic design for all lofts.

And then they've flighted the shafts.  In a brief experiment with my own component set, that did not work for me.  It changed the feel of the swing and I couldn't hit the club well.  But if they can make it work, it can be a great thing.  Because...
The amount of shaft tip being too much for wedges and too little for longer irons is the biggest reason for the trajectory issues in a set where all shafts are 7 iron shafts.  So I would be very interested to demo a set of F8 Ones and see how well or poorly their flighted set works for me.  Either that, or wait for them to show up used so I can take a flyer on them without losing a bunch if they don't work.  Testing one club is not going to tell me (or anyone) anything.

I'm testing a set of F8's right now.  Haven't been able to hit them on the course yet but on the trackman and off mats they are awesome so far.  Hitting some towering straight shots with the 5i.  Much better than I expected.  Hoping for a break in the rain today so I can get out to the course.
