On hole number 3 today at Pebble Beach Bryson DeChambeau had a complete meltdown. I have been following golf for 40 years and have never seen anything to this magnitude.
It started with his drive which was left. No one could find the ball and we were all looking. The pros , the marshals, spectators, everyone helping but we couldnít find it and Bryson had to go back to the tee. He reteed and than hit his third shot in the fairway bunker. He flew his fourth shot over the green and it looked to be OB and hit a provisional but his first shot was deemed to be in play. He couldnít get a Club on the ball so he took an unplayable and ended up dropping g halfway down the 17th fairway. During this time he slammed his iron on the concrete, was using profanity and was extremely agitated. I think we have all seen this before maybe even done this before so no big deal. After he hit his 6th shot which landed in the rough by the green he screamed at a marshal and because he felt like the marshal wasnít doing his job right. To me thatís uncalled for , everyone was trying to help this guy.  He than chipped in and marches to the next tee. On the fourth tee he takes off his jacket and purposely throws it on the ground so the caddie would have to pick it up. I get it that heís angry but this guy takes it to a whole other level. Jon Rahm gets criticized for the way he acts but he gets angry with himself, Bryson lashes out at marshals and treats his caddie like crap. I find Bryson interesting but cannot support that kind of behavior
Earlier in the week I rode in with a Marshall who said last year he had helped Bryson find his ball on the 12th at Spyglass and didnít even get a thank you even though he saved him a lost ball penalty.
Before this week I was a fan of this guy. After today Iím anything but. He obviously knows when the cameras are on and when they are not and feels like it is ok to act in this manner when itís not televised. At last years Masters he kept looking into the cameras and smiling and waving and earlier this year they showed him zip lining with one of the tour wives.
In addition there were a few kids with the Puma Hogan cap walking in his group which was first off the tee. So the lesson they learned it is ok to use profanity, scream at marshals, treat your caddy poorly and blame others for your mistakes. Heís still young so hopefully he will improve on this behavior.

This is really sad to hear.  I had hoped Bryson would be one of the good guys.

Thatís odd brysonís Pro am partner had so many good things to say about him when being interviewed by Jim Nantz and Sir Nick Faldo. Like any profession people have bad days at work. I even heard 21 year old Jordan Spieth say god dang it today, course was playing tough.

Here's how this thread will play out.

Guys who already don't like him will say this is why, he's a disgrace. Deshampoo. Yada yada yada

Guys who do like him will say he is very calculated and has a lot of fire. Glad he's not a robot. Yada yada yada. Let's just save ourselves a lot of time here

I heard him on a podcast a while back and he seemed pretty doosh-tastic.
If you've never listened to any podcasts, i would recommend it. It gives an accurate look/listen to players real personalities.

I’d lay off him and give him a break. Pretty sure he’s on the spectrum, and I wouldn’t rule out Tourette’s. It’s not cool to make fun of people with disabilities. The guy basically plays mental gymnastics just to use the restroom. He gets a pass from me.

I ran into his current caddie during a practice round last summer. I didnt know who he was looping for at the time and asked/chit chatted for a few minutes with him. He told me that it was his second stint with him as he was fired a few months prior and they had got back together. He said that he's a nightmare to work for, and I'm not sure if that was due to his attitude or that he's a range rat putting in long hours. After reading this I can see why he's a nightmare.

Certainly the strangest response I've seen today and that's saying something.

Iíve seen pros bury clubs, scream at themselves and reprimand people in the gallery. Those are common reactions. What went on today was different. You can reference other posts Iíve made in support of this guy, even one I made yesterday. My only criticism of him was his putting technique.  The screaming at the marshall for no reason and throwing his jacket on the ground purposely for the caddie to have to pick up were the two things that agitated me. Not expecting everybody or anybody to agree with me.

Wasn't it a couple years ago that Rory hit an errant drive and everyone in the group, plus spectators were trying to find his ball?  Everyone except Dechamebau who just stood by his ball on the other side of the fairway without a care in the world?  Seems like they looked for Rory's ball for the entire five minutes while Bryson stayed away calculating derivatives and vectors....

Yeah, this has nothing to do with being competitive.....there's being competitive and getting the best out of your teammates ala Troy Aikman and then there's being competitive but being cordial during a golf tournament as a competitor to people who are there volunteering their time to help at an event. They dont deserve any type of s*** this kid does to them for doing their job for the day.

Can you imagine Tiger doing this to a marshal? Dont think so, you want to know why? Because he was most likely brought up not to.

David Simms is WAY cooler than Dorkson DeSham-Bo could ever dream of being.  The idea of David Simms being real...he'd be my favorite golfer of all time.

Places 2nd at the US Open by laying up...very smart.  Cashes a huge check.  Has to listen to some bum pro who made a 12 on the same hole to lose the US Open by a lot....say Nice Par David.  As he leaves with your woman.  What do you do?  What do you do?  You walk off the 18th green, find the hottest woman at the course and say, " Hey Darlin', you ever been behind the ropes?...well then, come with me.". Ya that's right...David Simms is cool AF.

I hate these threads about Behavior.  Some people couldn’t care less and think it’s just “competitive intensity”. Could not disagree more.

I think it’s disgusting, childish, and vulgar. He’s a pompous spoiled ill mannered POS.

Its one thing to vent and scold yourself. It’s another thing entirely to treat others horribly who are volunteering their time to help you play a game for money. These guys need to remember they are in the entertainment industry.

Grow up, be a professional and get over yourself. Chastise yourself if needed, but if it affects others you are being selfish and entitled.
