Heading over to the states this April with the wife. We are doing a two part trip - New York for 6 nights as she has been desperate to go for ever, and we are also having 5 nights in San Diego.

New York will be a pretty busy itinerary, but San Diego more laid back. Im planning to visit the Scotty Gallery at Encinitas, and would love to play at Torrey (Id be delighted to play the North). Is the best thing to do to rock up in the morning and do the Dawn Patrol (Ill need to rent clubs)? Or is there another way? Id appreciate any advice!

Anything else golf related I shouldnt miss when Im over?

You can make a tee time for a fee, or I believe they have some walk on times too for the first hour of the day. My wife and I will be there in April and I’m planning to play the south early on the 19th so not sure if a tee time or walk on is best. I’ve been planning to call the pro shop to ask.

Dawn patrol is great fun. We did a midweek in April last year, we were there about an hour before the first t time and ended up in the 4th group.

FYI, they are aerating the south course 4/10 - 4/11. Because of that Ill be playing the north which wont be aerated until May.

We are arriving in San Diego on 22nd April. Ive made an enquiry through San Diego Golf Reservations website regarding play on the North on the 24th. Id also love to book a fitting session at the Cameron Gallery.. might have to be one or the other though!
