Golf became something me and my dad could do when I was 11 or 12.  Stayed that way until after college where I started playing a bit more, but still not often.  Didn't really cross into a love of mine until I was 27.  And that love has fizzled last few years....  but as my kids age I think it'll pick back up as something I can do with them.

Hockey was the sport I really loved.  I liked baseball but peaked around 13/14 and just wasn't good enough to play everyday and wasn't willing to sit on a bench hoping to get in.

No basketball how is this for sports played
4 years hs basketball
3 years hs golf
2 years hs football
5 years college football
My dad actually bribed me to play football he bought clubs and a bag to play hs football. Worked out made all state then made 2nd team 1-aa all american. Football was ok but you couldn’t dominate like you could in basketball or be fully engaged like in golf.

I played most sports growing up, but got really into bowling when I was 14.  Bowled in the fall and winter, golf in the spring and summer.  Became a very good competitive bowler, and eventually, about 30 years later, a pretty good golfer.  Interesting, the two sports I took to are sports you can drink and smoke while you're actually doing them.  Hmmm.

My Dad believed all a kid needed was a bicycle and a baseball mitt and if I came home before the sun went down something must be off.

As a result, I played little league and raced BMX until around age 12 until he,  one day actually made me go hit golf balls with him.  After that day,  baseball mitt went into the closet and the bicycle became just a way of getting around.

Hockey.  I watched my uncle play at a local rink and growing up I was on inline skates as a hobby.  I played a season of adult league hockey when I was 17 and I wasn't very good, probably the third to worst skater on the team and had some ill fitting hand-me-down pads.  My skates were good, but I didn't know you were supposed to wrap the laces around the boot ankle before you tied the laces (that's the real reason why I was a dreadful skater - no ankle stability to translate the push-off into speed and nobody friggin told me! -_-'  Learned from youtube like a decade later.)  I really should have worked on it; never practiced or did any drills, only thrown into the fire and left to figure it out for myself.

Still had a blast though and my teammates were great. 15 years later now and I might give it another go at some point.

Nope.

Baseball then soccer then basketball then tennis... then golf.  Now, golf only.  Not bc I'm not interested playing the others.  It's just that in my mid 30's now, I'm just a sad shell of my former athletic self in everything but golf.

Baseball and Basketball were my first loves...but baseball got pushed away when all stars started getting in the way of summer golf. I loved and still do love basketball but wasnt quick enough to play super competitively. It was the last sport I gave up. I played thru my 9th grade year then said Id had enough. I also loved soccer. I just hated changing from golf practice while heading to soccer practice. Ha my parents were real happy when I gave that up, no more games in 40 degree weather.

We (our city) got a minor league hockey team when I was 15 or 16. When that came, there were a couple jr leagues that started as well and we also saw inline hockey pop up. Had this been around when I was younger, I probably would have played that as well. For a few years, hockey was a big deal here. Hard to believe South Mississippi had a good hockey base.

I was typical US kid...played all 3 "major" sports as a kid in local boys club/little league - Fball, Baseball, Basketball...
But my grandfather loved both golf & tennis...and gave my brother & i the opportunity to play both in the summers at his club - but we were mostly just fooling around

I took it serious enough to be on the HS golf team - since I was still just ~5'5" and 110 lb, so the other sports left me behind (esp football & basketball!)

But still wish I'd put a bit more effort into the game in my teens...

Like any young Canadian boy. Played orginazed hockey from ages 7 to 14. Stopped when I started high school.

True love came at age 28. When I started golfing, thanks to my father in law.

7 years later. Love the game of golf like I never thought possible, and also play semi-competive hockey in a men's league during the long Canadian winters.

No bad days!

Soccer as a child.
I didn't take up golf until my university days.

I grew up playing organized basketball, soccer, and baseball. I ran track for a while too. I was pretty good at soccer and was pretty fast on the track but baseball was really my thing. How good I really could have been I don't know but I really just came kinda natural to it. My freshman year of high school I had elbow surgery and missed the entire season. I picked up golf because a couple of my really good friends were going out for the golf team. The rest is history! Never did make it back into baseball...

Baseball up until my Sophmore year of HS. Told was I was too short to play 2nd base and I was cut.
Started that summer with some crazy haggen blades and never looked back. Only time that remotely did anything with baseball was coaching my kids.
Worked out for the best. Couldnt be happier

Played baseball first. Hated that I could have a good game and the team could still lose.

So I switched to tennis. Then I hated that you had to have a formidable opponent to have good matches, sustain rallies, etc.

Then I switched to golf and poker, where I never leave a round or session fully satisfied.

Basketball through high school. I played men’s softball for about 7 years and stopped playing because too many people kept arguing with our own team and other teams. Now it’s just golf for me

Baseball as a kid, co-ed softball in the military, followed by beer golf.  Then, I started to play more seriously.
