For me, it wasn't.
Played hockey for 10 years.
Baseball for 7 years.

I joke that I could skate before I could walk, but its half-true.
You?

I was on skates before I could walk. East Side St. Paul, the Mecca of American hockey. My neighborhood has produced more American Olympic hockey players than any other in America.

Hockey was easily my first love, followed by basketball, then probably soccer, then tennis. Didn't even really get hardcore in to golf until after I left high school, which is sad, but dad just never had lefties sitting in the garage - had he had lefties I would have probably been scratch by my 20s.

Baseball when I was a kid, golf in high school.  Golf is still my first love though... I only thought I was in love with baseball until I met golf.

As a kid I loved ice skating, then came softball & volleyball, water skiing.  After school more water skiing, then added snow skiing.  Also was a professional handler of German Shepherd Dogs in the conformation ring for many years.  Took up golf fairly late in life & have been with it obsessively for 20 yrs (reluctantly gave up snow skiing after a total knee replacement a few years ago).  Now it's just golf, walking & weight training 3 times a week. Yes, I stay busy w/hubby & dog, outdoors a lot, & enjoying retirement in the mountains of Southern New Mexico.  Life is good!

Baseball - I loved playing 3rd base. Had a down year in 8th grade and got way better at golf at the same time. Made the HS golf team the next fall and still wanted to play baseball in the spring but the HS coach was a true psychopath. I went to work in the bagroom of the local country club instead.

Soccer first, played through college. As a kid I played competitive travel hockey as well. By the end of college I looked forward to hockey more than playing soccer. Even today I am a full golf nerd only because my failing body wonít let me play the other two.

Soccer was number one for me, and almost still is as I coach. Golf was always something I did every once in awhile, but didn't really start playing till after college.

Baseball for me.  My shoulder never bounced back from surgery in college.  I picked up golf much later.

Baseball in younger years. Basketball throughout high school was favorite but track was my best (but nobody loves track).  Then softball in college.

Baseball and football for me. When I got to high school, I quit baseball and concentrated on football. Blew my knee out twice and had to quit my senior year. I had planned to play in college.

Yep! Golf started 10-11, not a lot but loved it. Paper route money paid for Golf Digest and Sports Afiield.

Played tons of BB once I could walk and chew gum, which took awhile, lol, but only recreationally, but easily 4-5 days a week at the Iowa Fieldhouse/city rec center for the 8 years I was in IC - still waited anxiously for the first chance each spring to get out and golf and to go fishing. Watched more Iowa and Celtic (any NBA actually) than golf then, but always watched the majors.

Now thatís funny. I have always thought proficiency is the #1 reason kids continue to participate in a sport. I could NEVER understand runners (I do get old people running tho).

No my first love was football.  Loved it ever since I was a kid and then also got into basketball and hockey at various stages of youth.  Played organized football and roller hockey, pickup basketball etc. growing up and followed professional sports.  I remember my Dad and my best friends Dad taking us out to play a little golf when we were kids and I remember it being fun but it was never something that stuck with me back then.  And then when I was around 18-19 years old my grandfather who was an avid golfer really tried getting me into golf and I was for a little bit. Definitely enjoyed toying around with it a little then but I was just so distracted by other things going on at that point in my life(partying, girls) that I couldn't put the time in to actually improve my game and get good enough to where I wanted to keep playing.  So after that year I didn't touch any golf clubs again until my Mid-20's when I started growing out of the party phase and that was leaving me with an empty feeling.  Was looking for a new hobby and started golfing on my own desire and became hooked and haven't looked back since(started up in summer of 2010).

It wouldn't have been issue either, as I planned on playing golf in high school. Then they dropped the program before my freshman year, so back on the track.

Skateboarding in Orlando during the early 70's.  Made my own board in shop class with Tracker trucks and Kryptonics wheels.  Beauty.

Some freestyle but mostly qtr pipe in an old warehouse loading dock.  Some classic rock brings back those treasured memories.

I love all sports growing up. Played any sport I could but never thought of golf as a sport until Tiger came along. That’s right I just admitted the fact that I am one of the people who only got into golf because of tiger. 3rd best thing to happen to me(after marriage and kids).   Now I can’t get enough of this site and golf.

Iím in the underwhelming minority, but mine was golf.

Our elderly neighbor gave my dad his old clubs since we was unable to play at his age. Our family was very close to him. My dad started and I was hooked within his first year. I was 11 at the time.

Feel fortunate enough to have his old putter in my house.

Played Little League baseball for a couple years, or sat on the bench more accurately describes the experience.  A friend got a couple beat up golf clubs, when his granddad passed, and I was hooked for life at age 11.  Golf definitely was my first and last sports love.

Not my first love but def the one that lasts. I played baseball and soccer when I was younger but didn't have passion for them. I played basketball and golf in high school but wasn't good enough at either to play in college. I still play pick up basketball at the rec center and golf as often as I can. Golf is just so much easier to play without any sort of formal organization especially when you get to your 30s+ with a career, wife and child.

Basketball. I was always one of the taller guys in my class until I got to High School. I only played through my junior year though... itís kinda hard being a 6í1 center/pf  when the other school starts you played against had front lines who were 6í4Ē or taller and you donít have the dribbling/shooting skills to play a guard position.

I picked up golf in college. Love the sport a lot but Iíd play basketball everyday if I still had my early 20ís, high metabolism and recovery rates over my current 40-year old dad-bod now

Baseball first, then football, both started with little league. This was back starting in the late 50's. I took up golf in '65, self taught which means you hit the ball like you do a baseball, after all, it's a ball, right? It took a tv with better rabbit ears to notice that there was an apparent difference going on. :dntknw:
