What??? How?? Those were the first things to pop into my head. He finished I believe +55 through 36 holes on the web tour this week and I don’t even know what to think about that. I hope that sponsor exemption was worth it I guess

Enjoy the chase.

I hope it was an easy 105 rather than a grinding 105.

I saw him tee it up during a practice round this week and wondered what the heck was going on. Just a horrific slash at the ball.

Word is he paid a large sum of money to play in this event and also the tour event in Punta Cana later in the year.
I cannot imagine that the Tour could possibly let him peg it up on the big show... That would not go down well.

Whoa, a pro that makes my swing look good!

I usually defend exemptions, if that's how he got in, but come on now.  If it's going to be someone bad, let's make it someone people will buy tickets to watch.

His chiropractor must view him as an annuity.

He should have faked an injury after that first round.

OP, might want to modify the title to include a little detail.

Two things:

1. Any legit pro would have withdrawn before getting close to posting an atrocious score, TWICE.

2. Any man with even an ounce of integrity would refuse such a “gift”.

The article is interesting. He may need to brush up on his English. I had to re read his social media post 3 times. I get the gist but it’s cumbersome.

As a fan of both boxing and golf do we have any examples of a successful transition of one sport into the other at the professional level? I can’t imagine it.

With all the concern of the after affects of years in the ring, I would be interested to know his boxing history.

ABOSLUTELY A SHAME THAT THE WEB TOUR BRAND LET THIS HAPPEN IMO

It's a SPONSER'S EXEMPTION. It's not "someone's spot". The sponsor cares about drawing attention to the tournament, and Romo and Steph do a better job of that than an aspiring pro we've never heard of.

This is not a spot being taken away from anyone who earned it.

They shouldn't use it on a hack like Julio Bell though. And if he bought the spot, that should be outlawed imo.

Really pathetic showing by the tournament organizers. This wasn’t an invite, it was a pay to “play” con by a disgrace to the game. He did it last year at the same event, probably organized by the same guy willing to take his “donation”.  Needless to say, not much could have changed from last year, where he  hacked his way to 95+ rounds and infuriated his playing partners because of his antics.

This guy is a joke. Calls himself “the machine”, after this event I think he’ll be more known as “the double bogey machine”.

Quadrupled 18 to seal his 105 and “forgot” to turn in his signed score card.

I'm not sure if the PGA Tour thinks this is against the rules. The PGA Tour also says you can't get appearance money, so the sponsors just pay players to wear a little patch of their so that they play their tournament any pay them anyway.

This makes Steph curry's And Tony Romos exemption look amazing , and I disagree with both off them . You'd think as professional athletes they'd realize they were taking someone's spot & respectfully decline but show up for the whole week play all the pro-ams etc .

Even though they are both ELITE i like to think they'd get a bit upset if in the middle of their backups competition , the team let some celebrity or wanna be poser off the streets to come take reps away from the comeption between their backups .

It might not be someone's spot, but the two poor fellas that had to play him sure got effed out of the spot that was their's.

You can't tell me that their wasn't a Colombian on the PGA LA tour that wouldn't have been a better use of a sponsors exemption than this guy

In your mind and in my mind, sure. But it's the "Sponsor's" exemption. It belongs to them. If you want to abolish the Sponsor's exemption and make it another spot for someone to earn, that's another thing.
