I know itís frowned upon to pay members in order to play. But Iím sure a friend of a friend of a friend is a member at Augusta. How much, relistically, would it cost to play a round? 15k?

Going rate as of today is $27,225 for a 4:40pm tee time. Not sure if that will be the same tomorrow as it was a hot deal on one of those booking sites.

The CEO of some large public companies are members at Augusta.

Here is a list from Bloomberg.

https://www.bloomber...f-club-members/

The best way would be to become a major customer of those companies and you will likely get an invite.

Why don't you spend $1 or $2 Billion on a new computer system with IBM ....... very likely Ms. Rometty would extent an invitation to a round of golf.

Easy !!!!!!!

Should be chump change to the OP.

anything over $200 isnt worth it, its just a hilly golf course with fast greens- plenty more out there to make you shoot 90

Are you serious?  You are in the VERY small minority who wouldn't pay over $200 to play ANGC.  I'd pay many multiples of that.

I bet you'd be singing a different tune if that opportunity actually came about.

Monetary cost is irrelevant - benefit matters.

What benefit will the member derive from inviting you?    Period.

They certainly don’t need the money but they still do it.

If u get an invitation to go, Iíve heard the actual green fee is something like $150 plus or minus.  Getting an invitation to go is another story.

Years ago, there was a local member who was getting 10k for a round.  Was found out, lost the membership, probably had a black helicopter following him around.

Haha, I cannot sign my name in the bottom corner since I did not create that masterpiece. Although sometimes it doesn't take a lot to illustrate a funny point on the internet!

This is accurate, and absolutely no transactions take place in a public area. Guests cannot pay for anything and all transactions are billed to the member account. Guest fees however do not exist per an assistant pro that is now HP at one of the best clubs in the world. You donít even get rung up in the golf shop for products - the staff just puts them in your hands and off you go. No bills for meals either- just order, get served and the amount is billed, members do not sign. All prices are reasonable and there is no gouging.

Golf shop products can be paid for by credit card by the guest.  Everything else is pretty spot on.

A good friend of mine was fortunate enough to play Augusta about 3 weeks ago.  He did not know the member until the night before when they met.  It was a friend of a friend of a friend type of thing.  He was notified 1 week prior of his tee time.  The member took care of everything.  The member only asked that he visit the pro shop.  Everything is charged to the member account.  The only place on the property where anything other than account charges exist is the pro shop.  The stories and photos he showed me were nothing short of inspiring.

My cousin used to be on their account for Deloitte. Got to stay the week after the tourney on-site in the Crows Nest. Two things stood out to me after his stories.

1) They make so much money annually on the tournament the other stuff doesnít matter.
2) The audit staff got to go out daily and play in the afternoon. He played the course 4 times and the par 3 5 times during one year.
