The last three years Titleist has been the supplier of the range balls and all have been Prov1X with "PRACTCE" stamped on the side. Needless to say we always had a much lesser quantity at the end of the event which wasn't appreciated because the rep and Titleist picked up the golf balls... what they did with them I don't know. Web.com, LPGA, and Champions Tour events all will used the same golf ball on the range.
The PGA Tour, as mentioned here, is completely different. I've been fortunate to qualify, through our PGA Section Championship, in three FedEx St. Jude Classic events in Memphis. Every golf ball (I'd say 9 out of 10) that the professionals use are available to them to practice and warm up on the range with the ProV1/V1X taking up over half of the supply. The only players that can't play the ball of choice is if they continue to use an older model or "star" versions of popular models. I know the Head Professional has been typically in charge of overseeing the pick-up, cleaning, sorting, and re-supply of the range balls. This may seem like a pretty easy task, but on Tuesday's when the range is packed to the gill it's a pretty intense situation and usually staff is busting their a** to keep up with the ball supply!!!

Perfect range balls, Perfect greens, Perfect bunkers. Jeez, these guys should shoot 59 or better every single round.
They should be warming up having to wonder if that double breaking hook-then-slice they just hit was them, or was it that cracked golf ball that made a funny noise like the rest of us.
On top of that, they have galleries, tents, stands, etc to knock down and locate their wayward tee shots.

Yes, volunteers separate the balls. Those balls get shipped around to tourneys for practice. Not sure how long they are used or how many tourneys they get out of them though.
The balls are brand new at each event.
And old balls are donated to programs like The First Tee
