Does it really take 5 days for a package to travel 5 hours?? I know its a stupid thing to gripe about but still. I live in Charleston and the club is outside of Atlanta as of Friday. Guess I won't be using that one again.

Short answer: yes. Smart post deliveries between a shipper and USPS are generally the worst. The tracking is almost comical if you watch it. But it's cheap...

Too funny! I just received a sim card that was shipped via "smartpost". Every time I checked tracking, all I could say is "Are you kidding me?"

Even worse is the ebay/Fedex partnership.  I used SmartPost to send a golf bag I sold on ebay, when I purchased the label through ebay it indicated $18.  Then I got my ebay invoice and the label cost $42.  Apparently the initial label was an estimate unlike when you buy a USPS label on ebay.  Called ebay and they said the fine print indicates some small fees may be added.  That made me laugh!

Haha, it hasn't moved in three days. Still in BFN Georgia. Last time I get a driver for a ridiculous low price and free shipping and skimp out on the extra three dollars to ship faster.

FedEx is awful in general IMO. The SmartPost just brings their terrible service to another level.

There's a FedEx hub 20 minutes from my house, but the USPS sorting place is over an hour away. So when shipping SmartPost the item will literally go further away from it's destination to then come back for delivery and it typically takes an extra 2 days. Absolutely ridiculous service.

I generally use USPS Priority for all packages.  FedEx for some reason will use their full week to deliver something no matter the distance the item has to travel.

What was the weight (or dimensionsal weight) of the shipment? Smartpost pricing scheme is only better for products 9 lbs or under.

Weight was 8 lb, don't recall the exact dimensions.  I called ebay, they said they've been having mistakes with SurePost and 'will look into it'.  I'm not holding my breath.  I know I entered the dimensions and weight correctly, I have a strong feeling that the ebay 'estimate' was way off and didn't consider dimensonal weight or some other factor.  It's a pretty shoddy practice on ebay's part, but I'll treat as a relatively cheap lesson learned.  If shipping with ebay labels, use USPS!!!

Dimensional weight would have to have been way higher than 9 pounds. It seems eBay is probably the culprit here recommending the wrong shipping service. Hope you get it taken care of

It's not in Ellenwood, GA, is it?  If so, like someone has already said, it's comical to watch tracking.  A package will move all around "Ellenwood" for about 4-5 days and not progress toward you at all.  My employees and I will laugh about this as we watch packages get stuck in that black hole of a place.  I've actually got a PING bag there right now...past 3 days.  Multiple "In transit" and "arrived at..." Ellenwoods.  Makes no sense.

Haha, yup!!! Been there since 1600 on Friday. I should of just paid the extra 7 bucks. In my defense it was only like one days difference on the calculator. I see that is not the case.

Yep.

I have had stuff get from Maryland to KC in 2 days, then 7 days from KC to Iowa, but it sits in KC for 4-5 days.

Its not Ellenwood...

But I have items stuck in Groom, TX right now. Been there for 3 days according to tracking. And thats only half way to the destination city! Get it moving!!!

I think getting advice from guys who are sitting at the computer in their underwear while taking a break from porn is a very solid way to choose clubs. - bluedot

Smartpost is the worst! The delivery date is a guess at best. Most of the time I get delivery notifications and don't get the package for a few days after. I think usps claims it's delivered to keep numbers up or something.

I had a rare good experience with ShartPost recently.  Shipped from GlobalGolf last Thursday.  FedEx handed off to USPS yesterday, and they arrived today.  That was Raleigh,  NC to Hernando, FL.   It was a ShartPost record!

Ive purchased from TM preowned and used smartpost ONCE... They ship about 2.5 hours from my city. It took the package over a week and as i followed along the tracking it passed my city twice on the interstate and traveled a total of over 1000 miles. I called someone at fedex and asked them what was so SMART about it? I said the logistic algorithm is idiotic. I always pay the cpl extra $ now and usually receive within a cpl days.

I called someone at fedex and asked them what was so SMART about it? I said the logistic algorithm is idiotic.
I would almost guarantee, the person you spoke to thought you started speaking a foreign language at that point. Hahaha
I think getting advice from guys who are sitting at the computer in their underwear while taking a break from porn is a very solid way to choose clubs. - bluedot

wow, is it getting even worse now......?

Shipped from UA on 2/5, originally scheduled for 2/12 delivery, then moved to 2/14, check this morning, now 2/16, and it left Ohio last night (I am in Iowa).  7 days from Ohio to Iowa?

I ordered a Tensei Pro shaft from California Saturday morning, dude shipped out USPS Priority around noon, picked up at Post Office on Monday morning (less than 48 hours).

Nike order late Wednesday afternoon, regular free delivery - UPS ground - on truck for delivery today.

UPS uses something similar in SmartPost, but it moves through the UPS system as a normal ground item, then another day or two for delivery.

SmartPost is about as bad as it gets.

It's called Surepost and that is inaccurate. The process is nearly identical. UPS may have a DDU where they deliver the SP package directly, which skews the transit expectation. The vendor may also have an agreement to have a managed pickup which skips a step in the process. But by and large they are a very similar process.

I talked to ebay again.  They said the package was billed at 20 lbs.  Darn thing only weighed 8 lbs!  I had shipped this in early Jan before FedEx switched SmartPost to dimensional weighting and so the only explanation is an erroneous weighing by FedEx.  Fortunately ebay gave me a credit of $20 which mostly covered the difference.  I'll never use SmartPost again, that's for sure.

Glad you were able to figure it out!

Dimensional changes went into effect Jan 5th.
