This is a fun tournament because I've played so many rounds at the course via the Tiger Woods games and such that I practically know the course backwards and forwards.  Makes for more fun viewing.

I'm not a huge fan of Pro-Am's, but I am a huge fan of this course. When a GolfWRX member starts the inevitable, annual, if you could only play one course Augusta, St Andrews or Pebble thread, I always plump for pebble.

My only gripes are that the hiatus between Golf Channel and CBS coverage always seems to occur as the leaders are playing 7 and 8. I love 7 but I love 8 more. The other gripe, Sky don't provide commentary so I get to listen to McCord.

I love Pebble.  This course really brings out great champions.
Jack, Tiger, DJ, Spieth.
Some memorable battles include Jack's 72 US Open, Tiger 2000, Tiger vs Matt Gogel destruction, Tiger vs Phil 2012,  Jordan Spieth last year.

If your playing Pebble just one word of advice. They punch the greens fairly often and sand. I got burned on this a long time ago and a friend of ours recently got burned. They will not do any discounts on green fees so your kind of stuck if it happens. Since your playing during the middle of summer itís probably ok. May just want to ask them about a month before you go.

Less than a month before the US Amateur, the course should be in unusually good shape.
swing is irrelevant, score is everything

just say NO.... to practice swings

I've never watched or really paid attention to this event. I always thought of it as a gimmick with celebrities for fun. It wasn't until earlier today when I was researching it, that I found out there are actual FedEx Cup points on the line, and an actual stroke play tournament going on with all the pros. I do have quite a few questions though:

1. So with pros being paired in teams of 2 (1 pro, 1 am), the scores they shoot are all going towards an individual stroke play score, no different from any other tournament of the year? Wouldn't you have a LOT less focus if you're out there golfing with a famous actor/singer/etc?

2. Since the format of the teams are Better Ball, how often does the am's score on a hole actually count? I'd assume the team score is more or less the pro's own personal stroke play score. Do the Am's play from different tees? Do they play NET score?

3. It says there are 156 amateurs playing, but the list of "Celebrities" is only like 30 long. Are the other 120+ ams just regular guys that pay their way into the event?

Iíll do my best to answer your questions
1. Pros scores count as usual and event is played over 3 courses with a cut after SaturdAys round. Some pros do not like to play this event because amateurs often slow down pace of play.
2. Best ball scores are you either take the pros score or the adjusted score of the amateur based on their handicap.

I think the official pairings come out on Tuesday and they are only listing the biggest draw celebrities and sports stars on website. Many corporate guys play who are not listed

+1 definitely not my favorite..I see no reason to have it at all anymore..itís not like in the old days where besides the movies, you never saw the ďstarsĒ. With social media accounts, we practically know when they take a poop. I see and know more about them than I should.

Yes, net for the ams. Outside of the celebrities itís mostly CEOs of big companies.

More importantly Jacob, did you end up playing Sunday?

This is generally a weekend that I take a break from watching golf. The course is beautiful and there is always a decent field, but the Am coverage is unbearable. It usually gets a bit better by Sunday, but the yearly Bill Murray, Larry the Cable Guy and Ray Romano shtick is just brutal. I can't see anyone being interested in the Kostas swing analysis of a 14 cap on national TV, but they seem to air it anyway.

Definitely not. They were WAY off with the forecast. Was supposed to get up to 42º, and it didn't even reach 20º most of the day. Got a call early Sunday morning from the course saying they were getting snow and closing the course down. Snow wasn't even in the forecast at all. Stupid weather people. :(

As a Brit I hope the TV coverage has a delete / mute Bill Murray and Larry the Cable Guy (whoever he is) facility. Murray was last funny in Groundhog day.

Man, when that last pass went up last night and looked like it had a chance......then a two point conversion would have meant OT.

The outrage from those waiting for This Is Us would have been epic!

I had been telling my wife all week that if the game goes into OT itís not my fault, so yelling at me wonít change it!

Is this the pro am where Bill Murray shows up and tells jokes to the crowd, while taking 5 minutes to hit each shot?

Dude I was impressed with the most last year was Kenny G.

Yeah, I'm sure doing the Half Time show last night was a big reason why. Probably had to prep and practice his routine for a while, and neglect his golf game.

Even if golf wasn't my profession, I definitely wouldn't want to show up to play in a nationally broadcasted golf tournament without being able to get lots of practice time before hand.

Less Chris Berman this year please.  Not really a fan.  Tragic that his wife was killed in a car accident last year though.

I was pleasantly surprised last year to see that Timberlake and Kenny G both have some serious game.  That was pretty cool to watch.  They both seemed great with the gallery too.
