Iím a low handicap player and I havenít used a fairway wood in a long time. This year I became a member of a course that requires me to use a 19 degree wood off the tee on 2 holes.

If I make the same swing that I use for my driver and irons, the ball goes 30 yards to the left. Is this normal? I need to try and hit a fade for the ball to remain relatively straight/baby draw.

I owned the M1 3HL twice with the same shaft (sold the first time and went back after a swap). I had similar issues with this 3W yet not with my current gamer. I had some wild snap hooks. Obviously tried to make some swing changes during countless range sessions. Finally got rid of it and won’t be going back.

I read somewhere online that the TM woods are a bit more upright. I’m not sure how accurate that is. Maybe someone else can confirm.

The M1 doesn't have an upright lie angle like the M2. I love both my '16 M1 3 wood and my '17 M1 3HL. Controlled piercing fades all day. It's either the shaft or something in your swing.

1)put the slide weight in the toe
2)lower the loft which opens the face
3)flatten the lie angle

If you have to put a fade swing on that club to hit it straight then you're likely too much in to out on the downswing with a face that's too closed to path.

So open the face and make the same swing. If the ballflight starts right and draws back then you're good to go. If the ball starts right and stays right then you need to check swing path. If the ball still hooks then definitely look at swing - path and lateral movement.

Now, could be shaft too.  Does that hybrid start right and hook or does it start left and hook? Does this same flight happen in any other club?

Agree. 17 m1 is most fade biased 3 wood Iíve ever hit.  Which is why I have it in the bag .  And Iím a snap hoooker of 3 woods like you wouldnít  believe.  Iíd say shaft or ball position.

These should straighten things out. If you're still ending up to left, move the ball back in your stance 1/2" to 1".  With this adjustment, the clubface will have closed down less at impact.

Also agree. Sounds like the wrong shaft.

I have a '16 tour issue M1 3HL. It's 3* open and I hit a slight cut with it. I have a 16' tour issue M1 5w that was 2.75* open, but I upped the loft a degree to get the gapping I needed and it goes straight. I would definitely look at what shaft you're playing or ball position as others have said.

It could also be a swingweight issue. But the bottom line is making sure we face reality; you think you're making the same swing but you aren't, otherwise you would get similar results. The club does not care what swing you are or are not making, it only cares what its doing at impact. Is it flying straight 30 yards to the left or is it hooking 30 yards to the left? Are you a sweeper or a digger? What is your normal ball flight?

Try putting the ball further back in your stance. If that doesn’t work try a heavier shaft. If that doesn’t work try a tour issue head that sits more open or get a higher lifted head and lower the loft to ope the face up. If that doesn’t work go see a pro.

I had to come back to this thread. I hug the M1 3 wood today, the high loft one. I can't understand how anyone could hit this club left. Every shot went straight right.

Ditto,

The 2016 & 2017 M1 fairways lie flat & play more neutral to fade if anything.

My suggestion is maybe lower the loft notch by notch and see if that changes ball flight, maybe try a different shaft, or maybe it's your swing.

Try changing the hossel adjustment to +2* and see what happens then.
