Maybe I would be the only one, but I would like to watch 'less produced' PGA coverage. This would mean less cutting away from shot to shot and sticking with only a few players and following them throughout the round and going little deeper into there game. This would also mean instead of following a high profile player who is out of contention it would focus on the top 4 or 5 players.

Of course, keep the current coveridge on NBC but have them different coverage on the GC.

I know you are not talking about the TV Networks showing every shot that Tiger makes, even when he is in 39th place are you? LOL

Example: You wouldn't  watch a Nascar race that focused on the car in 23rd place for several hours?
It's  the same with this.
I know he has done a lot for golf and the history.
What if they covered a golf tournament and you missed a hole in one and several good shots by other  players because the camera was constanly showing how Jack Nicklaus was tieing his shoes, and  how he got into his car.

Viewership up 38% compared to last years Farmer's. As much as some here don't like it,
people tune in to see Tiger.

Anyway, if you want to follow a "featured group" all the way through; even when they're
just standing around........then watch on line......PGA Tour Live...or for, say the Master's,
go to the Master's website and live stream "featured groups" or "featured holes" and
watch everyone come through. Be prepared for lots of.........well, these guys are SLOW.

I'd like to see them find a way to get more coverage of tourney prep.  Not the "on the range" stuff but to see how they go about practice rounds and such

One thing too that prevents any changes as far as TGC and the rest are concerned is
the contracts. I understand NBC owns TGC but CBS and Fox televise events too. TGC
is likely very limited on what they can do while live broadcasts are going on on other
networks.

It won't be long until the tour and broadcasters encourage players to break into fisticuffs. It's all about ratings and money. Imagine Noren and JD Holmes getting into it on the 18th? Now that's modern TV.

NASCAR fans go to races hoping for a crash.

Boxing fans go to fights hoping a hockey game breaks out.
I'm quitting at 6.022 x 10^23 posts.

I think this is a great idea. Sort of a golf 'Hard Knocks' type of show. Mix in a 'name' golfer with an unknown, give an inside the ropes view of how they got where they are and where they hope to be, etc. I'd watch it.

That would be awesome.  I'd even watch something like that for some of the lower tours below Web.com

I personally would like to see 1 hour "tours" of courses. Hole by hole, noting different features and the layout with tons of flyovers and different views. Show the clubhouse and other amenities as well. I'd want it to be a relaxing, smoothly narrated show that just highlighted the beauty and features of the course. Maybe even show shots being played but not be the focus?

I would think the courses would jump at the chance to appear on the show, as it would be like one big commercial for them. But I'd like to see much lesser known courses, maybe even mash 2 smaller tours into a single episode.

I could see this be very relaxing and interesting to myself. Not sure how the majority of golfers would react though.

I think its a great idea but I wonder how much of golf viewership is casual golfers vs hard core golfers. I think most on here would enjoy seeing how a pro manufactuers a round but i dont think a casual viewer would enjoy it as much. I think PGA Tour live is as close as you are going to get to what your talking about.

There's a couple of weekly shows in Michigan which do just that.   They're essentially infomercials for the course.    One of is syndicated, as the hosts are Natalie Gulbis, and some other dude I've never heard of.

I mean, I watch it because it's golf, but no way it's a high dollar show for the network.  Here it is:

I agree, but in most cases Tiger is the only golfer that the networks are obsessed with.

Every Golf broadcaster needs to dump the so called experts like Chamblee or the UK's nightmare Mark Roe. Won very little but can pontificate on Jordan's putting, Phil's short game genius or DJ's driving prowess. The fast forward button is my friend.

Unfortunately, the irrelevancy factor you're speaking of, it just sells.

I've unfollowed several golf related instagram accounts because day in and day out, they play the same highlight reels from 10-15 years ago. It's no disrespect to the individual what so ever, as the highlight reels are quite numerous and impressive, but at some point in time, I would personally start to feel bad about the present, if all that was good about me was the past.

But, again, it's what the general public wants. I mean honestly, we're talking about a media outlet here... honesty, relevance, clarity etc. aren't always hot button topics. While I might say that his return was something that raised my curiosity to see and watch, I'd be kidding myself if I thought the coverage would ever change, even if the scoring average stayed where it was for that first tournament.

I think they should ask for people to video themselves and friends playing very serious competitive rounds, and then have pros roast them Mystery Science 3000 style.

Even as a golfer I hate watching putting on tv. Nothing is more boring than watching a group on a green walk around looking at their putts from three different angles, plumb bobbing, waggling, and finally they roll the ball, then repeat the whole thing after they miss. When I attend tournaments I very rarely hang out at a green except to watch incoming approach shots or chips. They should cue up a bunch of meaningful putts on tape (par saves, birdies, bogey saves) and just show a bunch back to back and then get back to the eye candy - tee shots and approach shots.

Unfortunately, the irrelevancy factor you're speaking of, it just sells.

Not really my point. Keep the NBC broadcast as is. There is an audience for it. But ALSO broadcast something for the hardcore fans on the GC.

The Golf Channel is not doing so good, and an alternate way to view golf might just help make them relevant.
