I've never planned anything like this. A group of us are looking to go away for a long weekend for golfing and guys weekend. Probably mid april. We are in NJ, so we were thinking something south and warmer.

Myrtle Beach came up as a possibility. We are looking for some other options though.

Everybody goes to Myrtle Beach and it's not bad, but consider the Pinehurst area.

If you are willing to fly check out Alabama and the rtj trail or Mississippi to Biloxi they give away hotel rooms at the casinos.

It's a long drive to Myrtle, Pinehurst, etc for a long weekend trip, unless you plan to fly from NJ.

April is pretty good weather in the NJ area in April, but greens aren't very good yet or aerated.

If you are driving, look at Ocean City, MD.   It will be a few degrees warmer and has enough good courses, that will be
ready for package golfers.

After you have created a traveling group, then you can go farther + longer the next trip.

I also suggest the RTJ trail in Alabama.  That's the best time of the year for those courses.

For a long weekend, fly into Birmingham, drive 25 minutes to Ross Bridge resort.  Play Ross Bridge and the two courses at Oxmoor Valley which are only 5 minutes away.   If you want to play more than three courses, there are two more about an hour drive from Birmingham.

I'm in DC. Have done two golf trips: Myrtle and Pinehurst. Like both a lot because the majority of the costs of the trips were green fees. Lodging and food/drink at both Pinehurst and Myrtle are super cheap. Just don't stay at Pinehurst Resort unless you're planning on playing one of the numbered courses. But there are tons of courses to choose from in the Pinehurst/Sandhills area: Mid Pines, Pine Needles, Dormie Club, Tobacco Road, Southern Pines, etc.

If you guys just want to golf, Pinehurst is the spot. If you want to go out at night after golf and party a bit or hit the bars, Myrtle is the spot.

Vegas Baby! Golf plus fun. Play Cascata even though it is super expensive, it is a unique experience. Then drive out to Paiute for more reasonable and excellent golf.
Myrtle Beach is a sweet trip too...easy and reasonable rates versus most resorts

Could probably use some more info like ages, ability etc.  A golf trip for a 25 year old group will be very different than a 50.  You want to minimize windsheild time as that interferes with drinking and cigar time.  Find something near an airport and a group of courses clustered together.  Myrtle is the obvious choice, but look at Charleston (Kiawah $$), Hilton Head, Jacksonville or Orlando.   Ton of flights into Orlando.  Generally I prefer non-stop flights

If you don't mind flying, just go to Pboenix/Scottsdale. It will be getting pretty warm there by then, but you will also be getting some really good deals.

My group has gone to myrtle for the past 14 years. Can't go wrong there. Cheap and real good courses. Grande dunes, willbrook, kings north, tidewater and arrowhead are great courses.

Don't forget to look into Cabo.  Perfect weather in the winter and several world class courses.

Our group would range in age from 29 to 45. Myrtle beach and Alabama sound like the best options. Once we make a decision, I'll let you all know. Thank you for the advice.
