I'm heading to Mexico next week, and will be able to get in two rounds of golf while we're there. We're staying in a variety of places along the Yucatan east coast in and south of Cancun.

So instead of falling victim to a tourist trap, I'm really curious if any of you have been there on a golf trip and could recommend some courses in the area? I won't be bringing my own clubs, so I'd need to rent too. I prefer to walk golf courses, but I guess that is rarely an option in tourist areas, so no biggie.

Anyways, let me hear your suggestions :-)

My personal favorite is Iberostar Playa Paraiso.

Thanks divebreck. What other courses in the area could you recommend?

I didn't really like either of the 2 Cancun courses. Mayakoba is nice, but for the money like Iberostar better. In Akumal there is a course called Riviera Maya Golf Club its nice and its tough. Sorry that's the end of my knowledge on courses there, hope you have a great time!
