When I called for the exchange it seemed that he had heard this before.  Now with the responses here that is confirmed.  They have heard it and done nothing about it.  That doesn't seem like good business practice to me.

Their quality has definitely slipped dramatically in just the last 12-24 months. I致e been a regular for years but sent back multiple orders this year and likely done with them.

To divert the conversation a little --- I'm not sure why anyone buys used golf balls anymore.  There are deals posted on here almost weekly for new premium balls @ $20/dz (B330-S and 2016 TM Tour Preferred just to name a few).  Purchasing a few dozen when the deals come around would take care of most people for the season.  If people really like buying used golf balls and trying new types, just go to your local Play It Again Sports.  They have lots to chose from for around $10/dz.

This is not directed at you OP, but just a general statement on what's available our there.  I personally would never buy from a used golf ball retailer.  IMO if there are golfers so blind they are willing to follow the Titleist stamp into the used golf ball world, they got other issues at hand.
Couldn't agree more. Can't understand why anyone buys used balls when there are so many good deals out there for new. Pro V1's are not the be all and end all. Other tour level balls are just as good. Just seems stupid to buy them used in any condition.

Because even if you get pro line balls for $30 per dozen, you are still paying double of some once  hit balls. To each their own but I値l use my extra cash savings for more golf with balls just as good.

This post was never meant to turn into a debate on new vs used balls however, I will tell you why I do it.  I have found after playing numerous tour level balls that the Pro V1x is the best for my game.   I have a tendency of keeping my face closed on the backswing and at impact.  With other balls that tends to be a pull that just keeps on drawing.  However, with the V1x I find that it tends to not overdraw and stays more playable for an error.  I don't want to spend a bunch of money to find a ball with the same characteristic.  I also tend to find the used balls to be fine for regular play and bring out brand new for tournament rounds.  Anyway, people asked why.  That is my reason.

Just a quick update.  I received the new order today.  Seems all of the balls are the correct year and within the proper classification.  They did send them to me before they received my return shipment which was nice of them.  However, they have done nothing to fix the problems with the website.  Which clearly says to me that they don't care that the public perceives them as deceitful as has been shown on this thread, so I will not be shopping with them further.

I went through this same ordeal with them last summer. They exchanged them without question but they obviously don't give a crap that customers find it deceiving seeing as they're still doing it.

You have to assume they're balls that were so bad that they couldn't even be sold as 3A condition so they have to repaint them.  Now they can call them mint, jack up the price and have enough margin to cover shipping two ways when customers complain. They'd stop doing it if they were losing money on the returns and exchanges.

The problems are numerous and the sum of those problems equals deceit. First they list balls as “mint/no logo”. A refinished ball is anything but mint. It is a ball in such bad condition it has to be repainted to be resold. This is the equivalent of painting a junkyard car to look nice and calling it mint.  A normal person would think of mint as to mean like new. There is nothing like new about these balls. They also price these balls the same as their 5A balls to give the impression of equal quality. Most if not all other sites list refinished balls priced substantially lower than used balls because the quality is substandard. They also make it very difficult to know that this grade of ball is refinished. It isn’t listed on the order page, in the cart or on the receipt. A buyer would have had to actually look at the grading scale to see the word refinished. The first time I saw refinished was on the shipping confirmation. The reason they hide refinished is because experienced golfers would never buy them because of the poor quality. They are counting on inexperienced golfers to not know the difference.  But what really makes this deceitful is that they know and don’t care. They have been told by me, others from this site and other shoppers from the reaction of the rep on the phone and done nothing about it. This all adds up to deceitful practices and I won’t  shop there any more.

That's a good explanation. I asked because I know the CEO personally and was hoping for someone to break down the issue so I can present that to him.

I would agree with you that once LGB started selling refinished beside the 5A golf balls, things started to get complicated and they didn't implement it correctly. If you don't mind me passing this info onto them, maybe at the minimum it'll help future buyers not get screwed over.

Just let me know.

Thanks

I've forwarded your issues to the CEO. He told me they are aware of some of those issues and are working through them now, no timeline though.

Anyways I thought I'd give you an update.

So I just looked at the website and there has been no update.  Here is what I don't understand.  Why hasn't it been changed?  Is it that difficult to change?  What are the issues that they need to work through?  It has been 9 days since you informed them.  I am not trying to be a jerk here, and quite honestly I have 4 dozen balls so I am not looking to buy anytime soon.  But, I am interested in why the changes haven't been implemented.  Just curious.

Well, I don't have any inside info. here but 9 days is not that long if they are looking to change a product like that. That has ramifications throughout the entire site.

However, more likely, they intentionally made it like that in the first place. If they were okay with being intentionally misleading in the first place, why expect them to go out of the way to be honest now?

They are probably weighing whether it is worth potentially reducing sales to be more transparent.

This is like when people get screwed over by a seller who doesn't ship the product and then they expect that seller to make it right. The leopard cannot change its spots.

I am in no way trying to continue to be accusatory.  I am sorry if it came across that way.  I feel like I did a good job of making my points earlier and no need to pile on here.  I was just curious how long it takes to make a website change.  If it takes awhile then I understand.

It would not take very long in this case. It's just changing the product name/description. What could take longer is deciding if they want to do it, because it would be a significant change and affect a lot of products on their site.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but what makes you think they are going to hop to it and make this change because one customer suggested it?

It's been this way for who knows how long. Others have complained about the same issue. It does not appear that they care at this point.

You said "Here is what I don't understand.  Why hasn't it been changed?  Is it that difficult to change?  What are the issues that they need to work through?  It has been 9 days since you informed them."

You think they weren't already aware of this issue? They set it up that way on purpose. It hasn't been changed because that's the way they want it.
