Went to pull a Superstroke grip off a putter I bought and apparently the putter had an extension in it, only the extension stayed in the grip.  Any thoughts on how to get it out?

Use a flathead, insert in the small hole on the cap, find the extensions edge, and push it out.

That may work.
I would say regardless of what method you use, soak the hell out of it with grip solvent first. Plug the hole in the end of the grip, turn it upside down, and fill the grip with fluid. Let it sit for an hour. It should get loose and slippery enough to come out pretty easy after soaking.
If you cant get the flathead screwdriver through the top hole trick to work, you might be able to get a long carriage bolt of the right diameter (from home depot or lowes, etc) and try to screw it into the bottom of the extension. Maybe a light whack with a mallet too. Basically try to get the bolt threads to catch on the thin wall of the tubing extension however you can. Then just yank the thing out after its good and soaked with solvent

Buy a new grip. Huge PITA getting it and the tape out. Messy job. New grip and install with air.

Same thing happened to me, OP. Figured it was a lost cause, but I may try soaking in solvent trick.

What on earth are you pulling the Super Stroke for? Those things are mighty fine. My fat pre arthritic hands love them. The fatter the better. My latest putter is a cure CX2. The stock grip was awesome. For normal non arthritic type hands, which didn't include me.  It was pulled within an hour of the putter arriving and a SS installed. Anyone need a brand new red Cure putter grip? That thing is tacky (good tacky, not 80's sideburns tacky) and if someone needs one let me know. If you're not looking to resell it and actually use it on your putter, let me know. It's yours for whatever it costs me to ship to you. I think it was classed as a #2 Pistol? Could be wrong but until I found huge arthritic hands friendly grips, I'd have thought it was great.
