Hi Guys,

I'm heading out to Australia for three weeks at the end of June and will be in Melbourne and Sydney for a week each. I'm interested in writing to some of the Sandbelt courses and potentially New South Wales about the possibility of visiting to walk the courses to take in the architecture and style of play, as I'm sure a round is outside of my wheelhouse. Is this something any of you could recommend, or any contacts who may be open to having a Pom follow their game around the course?

I'm also interested in potentially playing in either Melbourne or Sydney, albeit unlikely at any of the more renowned clubs. Do you have any recommendations of where to get in contact with?

Cheers,

Alex

I suggest you write a nice grovelling letter to any club you want to visit and I'm sure at least a few will allow you to play. Just be prepared for a little snootiness at one or two clubs.

NSW is awesome in Sydney but Melbourne KILLS Sydney for golf. Try and get on or walk the following:
Victoria - my favourite course in Aussie
Commonwealth - wow the greens
Kingston Heath - brutal but awesome
Metropolitan - cracking holes. Especially 11th onwards

Royal Melbourne is great. It is hard to get in the door and will run you $500AUD for a game if you get on which PERSONALLY I don't think is worth it.

Try and get down to the Cape Schank peninsula, awesome courses down there too!

Thank you! it's likely going to be a walk round, but excited to see sandbelt tracks.
