Well, G400s have a lot of weight low and fairly wide soles, so for someone like him, they probably get the job done.

That said, are you sure it wasn't YE Yang and not KJ you're referring to?

He was an Olympic level power lifter in his younger days (I donít think he competed in the olympics, but he was good enough to)

I'm afraid that KJ's time has come and gone.  I doubt that he is being paid much..

What!? He's a full time PGA Tour player I'm sure he's doing quite nicely.

Choi is a good guy, I have nothing against him.  However, he has not performed well since 2011, and last year made less than 300K, stroke average is 72.xx, driving average is less than 270 yards. If he is to have a resurgence it will be on the Senior Tour.  Best of luck to him.

Dunn:  I like KJ.  If your best argument is that unless you can beat someone then you can't have an opinion, is without any merit.  That would follow that if you are not the President then you can't have an opinion about Trump, Congress, or who is going to win the Super Bowl etc.  I have never been in the Miss America beauty contest but I certainly have an opinion about the ladies.

I don't care what clubs any pro plays, many tour pro's play CB.  Just pointing out that Ping may not get a lot of bang for their buck.  Then again if they help him play better.......great.  As another poster said, perhaps Ping believes that sponsoring KJ will help their Korean market, I am sure they studied the impact.

KJ has simply gotten too old to compete with the guys currently on the tour.  It happens to everyone, no matter how great they were in the past.  His future lies ahead on the Sr. tour, that life.  He no longer is no longer relevant on the PGA Tour.

so true! There are Champions Tour players using 6 hybrids who would spank the " players" on here blindfolded. Play what works. Lowest score wins.

I think when a PGA Tour veteran gets into his mid to late 40s it is all about making enough money to stay on tour and make it to the Champions Tour. See Rod Pampling. He was living on the edge and then grabbed a win last season, good for a three-year exemption.

I don't doubt KJ needs irons such as the G400 to keep up with big guns such as DJ, JT, Koepka and the like. But he is certainly no shorter than guys like Snedeker or Zach.

What's great about golf is the equipment allows guys like KJ and Justin Thomas to be decades apart in age and play on the same tour. In KJ's case, if he could convert more putts that is the area where he would be more competitive. Not a natural with the flatstick.
Ping G400 9 degrees, Ping Tour stiff shaft, 65 grams
Callaway XHot2 Pro 3 wood, 15 degrees, Aldila Tour Green stiff shaft
Callaway XHot2 Pro 5 wood, 17 degrees, Aldila Tour Blue stiff shaft
Titleist 816 H1 hybrid, 19 degree set to 20, Diamana Blue 60S shaft

Miura CB57 5-PW, Nippon Modus 125 stiff shafts, soft-stepped
Ping i200, 4-PW, power spec lofts, Dynamic Gold 120 stiff shafts
Mizuno S5 50-degree gap wedge, Nippon 1150 stiff shaft
Callaway Mack Daddy 2 54-degree wedge, S grind, DG wedge shaft
Callaway Mack Daddy 4 Raw, 58-degree wedge, X grind, DG S200 shaft
Edel Rogue putter (thick blade), 34 inch, 71 degree lie, 2 degrees loft, 100-gram round Pure grip

It was both at one point. I think Yang held the 2/3/4/5 hybrids whereas Choi held 3/4/5/6. Was always a big fan of both as I also carried a 5H at the time, absolutely loved that club. Why did I get rid??

Time for KJ to go back to sidesaddle!

I wonder if he'll do the G700's when they're available.

You've bashed Ping twice now in one thread. Why not go for a third. You're avatar says you're a fitter/builder. Of what ? Lego's ? Any club builder I've talked to over the last 30 years usually aren't into bashing a brand or a type of club.
