Just had Will Peoples do the hot melt to my Epic SZ driver. The whole experience was actually easy. My problem was the Epic was a hook machine and the more it did it, the more I changed either the swing or the placement of lead weight. Truly chasing  ghosts. Will was just plain great to work with at all levels.

I did take lessons to try and hit the SZ but everything was low and left and my 3w went further and straighter. Add to the lead tape everywhere approach issue [it was at D9 when Will got it], but I wanted to shorten the length by 1". I did the tape on the grip bit. Anatomically, 45.5, had me hitting the heel side 1/3  and the rest swinging in the breeze.

You need to get someone who knows what they are doing and Will sure did. He was well aware of the characteristics of the SZ and how to go about fixing it. I sent two shafts,  6x3 White Tie and Hzrdus T800 6.0, to be shortened. Left it up to Will what to do. We discussed his findings and swing weight recommendation. It was done, with shipping and work, taking a week door to door. The price, including shortening two shafts and installing my grips, was less than the 4 doz Kirkland balls I bought on the last availability.

The club felt and looked differently when back. His placement of the grip made it look open which really helped. Yesterday, was warmest day in over 3 weeks here in my part of the south so out to the range with a big bag. Warmed up and then started with the driver. For me the length was perfect, looking at the way it was set was great. Had to forget the old "stop the hook" swing and it was back to just hit it.

After 5 hits, I went to the test and picked a target. Results instantaneous. Either straight or real draw maybe less than 5 yards, trajectory was back normal for me with a White Tie. Easily, into a 5 mph wind and 55* temp carrying to our last green at our range at 238 [I am 72 so this was great]. Remarkably, the ballmarks were center cut, of 10 swings, either covered the center line of the face or touched it.

Will deserves his great reputation and hot melting was a great find.

Agree Will is the man. Bought a tour issue driver from him... then a 3 wood.... now a set of irons. Never would have thought I would be his builds feel so solid and he just gains your trust. Great stuff and can’t wait for the irons to get here.

Will is the man.  I was considering buying a hotmelt gun, but now I might just send my driver and fairway heads to him.  Glad you are happy with your driver now!

As an aside when I tested Epic with rep on range and trackman, my miss was smother hook.  I would switch back to my Ping and baby fade was back.  He actually asked me if I was doing it on purpose.  I don't know what it is or was...but OP's post does not surprise me related to club.  Did the sound change much OP?

moon

The smother hook/snap hook/F%^king hook, I had them all. Everything was low and left and ran. Only way I could hit a fade was to aim 45*left and block it. Obvious exaggerations. I loaded lead like crazy to point I just couldn't hit. Had no trouble with GBB815 it replaced.

Will and I talked about club length due to arm and leg length issues. He agreed with 1" but talked me out of building to a D4 and said do D2. I love this club now.

Now when I place it on the ground it looks open when you set it on the ground which helps the confidence. Both the sound and feel have changed. Sound is subdued and the hits feel solid.

Will has patience in surplus. Never felt rushed or talked down to.

Will is the best hands down. He hotmelted a head for me and installed a atmos 9x into a driving iron and all the work was top notch hands down.

Will is great...but I have only dealt with him once. Just like everyone else says, quality work. Shafts I bought from him weren't right for me, but plan on seeing if he will build my iron set if I supply the heads and shafts after I get fitting for what specs I need.

Hell Blade, a month ago you should have done a WTB and I would have given you a SZ. You missed your chance and no now I wouldn't give it up on a bet. Remember hot melt can also help go draw bias as well.

The SZ I sold a couple months ago seemed to have a draw bias to it. I’ve never hooked the ball so much. Unless my swing just went in a diff direction than the cut fade I’m used to

spackler

Per my info and supported by Will, the Epic likes to go left, at least some of them. Post melt, you have to really try and make it go low/left.

The other piece that must me considered, folks must make sure of the lie angle. In my case the center line never touched the ground, however, the heal side dug a little trench. Answer for me is the an inch shorter made a world of difference and greatly enhanced the confidence.

I am not going to temp fate
