For those of you who don't know, Bali Hai is owned by famed Las Vegas gambler (Bookie) Billie Walters.

Last year, he was sentenced to five years in prison for insider trading. Remember the incident with Phil Michelson?

Well, The Raiders are coming to Las Vegas in a couple years. The new stadium will need a parking lot large enough to handle the load.

A friend of mine here in Vegas just gave me intel that his office has completed the appraisal of the Bali Hai property and that plans will soon be under way to convert this nice little golf course into a parking lot.

It seems that Walters, being in prison, has decided to take this opportunity to wash his hands clean of the property.

Here's a link to an article in the Las Vegas Sun, but my friend says this deal is already done.

Interesting.

Didn't they also close down the Wynn resort course?

Not sure if it's closed down yet but from what I've heard it will be.

Wynn closed a couple of weeks ago.  Never had a chance to play it back in the DI days, but everyone I know that did says Wynn completely ruined it.  Can’t say I enjoyed playing the Wynn version for $500.

Never did get to play it. Only courses I've played in Vegas are Anthem, Spanish Trail, and Desert Pines. Also played the Taylormade par 3 course where planes are flying over your head every 30 seconds!

I love Spanish Trail when it's in good shape. Robert Trent Jones Jr designed. Desert Pines is great also, but the greens are tough! Pete Dye redesigned that course several years ago.

My wife and I played Bali Hai twice and it's a great place to play, except for the tourist helicopters that turned base to final for landing, right on top of the course. This happened about every 30 minutes or so.

Extremely annoying. :censored2:

I played Bali Hai a couple of times and thought it was actually really enjoyable. Probably over priced by 30% or so but welcome to Vegas, so is everything else. Restaurant was always good, nice spot to eat out on the patio after the round. Course was always in good shape.

Too bad about the course but its probably way more valuable as a parking lot.

Only thing Iíd take issue with in what you said is that this isnít necessarily a done deal. As the article mentions a lot of this is out of Waltersís hands even if he wanted/wants to do the deal.

There are multiple other parcels on the West side of the stadium site that the Raiders have also included in their presentations to the Stadium Authority and negotiations are ongoing with those owners too.

I think itís safe to say Bali Hai is going to be gone, but it may not be a parking lot.

Played there when i was in Vegas for a banking convention. It was nice and close to Mandalay Bay so made it even better. I walked to the course and back to hotel with no issues. Like Vegas paid more than should but was nice get a way.

This is the way the Taylormade par 3 course is, its right at the start of the runway.
