Spieth handled that fine. I wouldn't consider that a meltdown at all. Pat Perez is WAY more likely to go Happy Gilmore agro on cameramen and get physical "Price is wrong b****" kinda guy. I see Spieth bouncing back firing a 65 today.

With the cold and winter weather bearing down on Kentucky, it's nice to see the nice ocean views and weather in Hawaii.

Jerry Kelly on the Leaderboard in Hawaii?  Now you know for sure it's the official start of the season on the PGA Tour.  This is an annual right of passage...

Brian Harman has been playing some impressive golf. His last 10 round scoring average is 67.2. The announcers say he is 5'7", but I think that is a bit inflated. It's nice to see that you can play great golf on the PGA Tour and not have to hit it 320 yards. lol

Yes, I knew Bones was going to caddie for Justin. I didn't know he'd call golf for the Golf Channel afterward.

I always looked forward to the Hawaiian swing, because it was on regular TV. Now, since the golf channel is NBC and apparently everything is being cable routed, the days of free watching seem to be over. I just wonder, how much more of the PGA tour is going to be cable only.

I don't know if it's because the Golf Channel is owned by Comcast now that the Sony Open in on cable. NBC has the Falcons-Eagles game on today. Sony could come on right after that, but Dateline NBC and Will & Grace get far better ratings than the Sony Open does. For as much as we talk about how good of ratings the Masters gets, they still get killed in ratings by the show that comes on right after the Masters, 60 Minutes.

Great to see Brian Harman in the lead.  A victory would be huge.  The TOUR's website has a little article about Brian's motivation this year; he really wants to make the Ryder Cup team, but he has to guard against burn-out.

"Part is knowing when to rest. I think someone tweeted in the middle of last year that I had more starts the last five years than any other player,Ē Harman added.

He has played 185 tournaments since the start of 2012, the most of anyone in that span and nine more than the next player in John Huh.

ďI didnít realize I was playing that much golf. Iíve got to be a little more strategic about where I play and where I rest. Thatíll help."

jordan spieth is putting so badly it's a credit to his long game that he still shoots respectable scores..

i really hope he sorts out his putting soon...

PS: putting badly=missing too many makable putts....at least 4-5 per round by my count.

I saw something about a technical manager doing itóthey have a couple different ones going, it appears from watching the coverage, so they must have a couple of non-union management types with some experience running a camera there.
