This is my first experience with WRX porn, so please be gentle :telephone:

I’m 69, walk with a pushcart (Clicgear 2.0) and for the past 30 years have played at Katke Cousins GC in Rochester Hills MI. My index typically ranges in the 7s and 8s (9-10 home course handicap) from the Medicare tees (6,000 yards at Katke).

Woods: Callaway Big Bertha 13.5 HT driver, Fubuki 50g A flex shaft, adjusted to 1° upright, standard loft. I know I’m behind the tech curve with this, but I’ve never hit anything consistently better. That said, I am going to audition the Epic and Ping 400 this winter.

Callaway Big Bertha 5 wood, upright lie, loft adjusted to 19°, Fubuki 65g A flex shaft.

Hybrids:  3 – Exotics XCG6 19°, Graphite Design Tour AD50 shaft, 52g, A flex
  4 – King Cobra Baffler 23°, Aldila NV-HL 65g shaft, lite flex
  5 – King Cobra Baffler 26°, Aldila NV-HL 65g shaft, lite flex

Irons:    Titleist 714 AP1, 6-gap wedge, 2° upright. Mitsubishi Kuro Kage 65g A flex. Recently refinished by Lee Davila at DeWulf Golf Repair in Auburn Hills MI.

Sand & lob wedges: Callaway Mack Daddy PM grind, 56/13 & 60/10, 2° upright, KBS Tour V shafts.

Grips: Golf Pride New Decade

Putter: Ping Sigma G Kinloch C, 35”, 2° upright, Ping PP65 grip. This is a late 2017 addition, and it replaces a center-shafted Ping Craz-E G5i.  On the family room carpet I’m very impressed by the effect the milled insert has on both distance and direction.

Ball: Titleist ProV1x.  I don’t find much difference in the distance of premium balls, but from 100 yards in the X is everything I want. If I were going to change, I wouldn’t know where to start; other manufacturers’ marketing confuses the hell out of me, so I just stick with what I know and trust.

Headcovers: Jan Craig handmade wool knits on 5-wood & hybrids, Winston Collection leather on driver, Sunfish leather putter.

Bag: Ping 4 SeriesIMG-3.JPG IMG_1.JPG IMG_4.JPG IMG_2.JPG IMG_5.JPG IMG_1344.JPG IMG_1345.JPG IMG_1353.JPG

Thanks.  Have since replaced old Bertha driver with new Epic.  Tried Ping, Taylor, Cobra.  Epic was far and away best feeling and performing. It's wonderful that at age 69, I'm playing some of the best golf of my life -- equipment is definitely a factor.

Uh.............can't explain it......well, I like insert putters and I prefer the feel of the Odyssey
inserts over the Ping inserts.............and, just maybe I can't allow one mfr to have all 14
slots in my bag, lol, although I've had some Ping putters in there at times.

Getting ready for my 1st Hickory event next week.  I just finished refreshing these irons (my first playset) and they are easier to hit than I expected.  Gotta find me a hickory driver and FW, but I am practicing with the Maple-headed PING. Jones bag!

Solid bag K.  Well assembled.  Only by stumbling by this thread (admit that the "Geezer" bag caught my eye) did I discover where Lee was located.  Had loss track of him for awhile.  Stopped by his shop last week, going to have him do some bending for me and a couple other "projects" I'm considering.  Lee's one of the best.  And his shop is a classic club junkie's dream.  Was a hoot chatting with him, he was hauling out and showing me his various putters that he's refurbed.  Ask to see his Ping B60 next time.

FWIW, 6000 (+/-) is just about the right length these days.  Have nothing to prove to anyone.  Even though I'm a bit younger than you, I'm 'only' 66.  :taunt:   Don't seem to hit the ball as far as I once did.   Can realize all the necessary enjoyment and adventure playing at golf from that yardage.

Question.  Curious on your decision to go A flex, LW graphite in your irons.  What is the benefit(s) you've realized?  Right at that point in time where I may need to become realistic on future shaft/club decisions.   Assuming Lee may have reshafted your irons?  Still playing i20's steel R flex and they're getting to be a bit unwieldy for me on occasion.

Would play Katke a couple times a year with a OU bud.  That is until he retired and moved away on me.  One of my favorite courses in the area to play.

I digress badly.  Not wishing to jack 'your' WITB thread.  Again, quality bag.  Think the headcovers nicely complete the look.

I digress badly.  Not wishing to jack 'your' WITB thread.  Again, quality bag.  Think the headcovers nicely complete the look.

I've bought most of the stuff in my bag from Juliana at Carl's.  She is incredibly knowledgeable and patient (spent 90 minutes with me recently helping me decide between Taylor, Cally, Ping and Cobra) and it's like being fitted without the cost. Three years ago, I auditioned a bunch of irons with her, and these AP1s with A flex shafts won hands down.  I hit them farther and straighter than any iron I've owned in 15 years.  Juliana also used Trackman to show me why I needed irons 2 degrees upright.  I don't know the science behind any of this; I just know it works.

GO GREEN!

Great bag!  Love the colour scheme and your comment on your ball made me chuckle "If I were going to change, I wouldn’t know where to start; other manufacturers’ marketing confuses the hell out of me, so I just stick with what I know and trust."  If it works don't try and fix it.

There certainly is a lot of info out there on everything these days, let alone balls.

Kudos on walking too.  I find walking rounds far more enjoyable.
