Not withstanding Stenson, Casey & Tiger, I think a case can be made that Perez is the best player in the world over 40 at this time.  If not now, it may happen by mid year.  Not many come back from shoulder surgery better than they ever were.

The title Best Player over 40 is maybe not the most accurate when you then have three exceptions thereafter.

That said, I agree with the sentiment that he is up there but he is not the best. I also wouldn’t have TW on the list at the moment. I sincerely hope that he will be but one event in it’s too early to say. The other two you mention - Casey & Stenson are better that Perez. Their A games are better than his for me.

Stricker, Jimenez, Couples are not currently better than Pat Perez. Pat has two PGA Tour wins in 16 months and a far better OWGR.

Stenson!

Kind of a weird thread title when you start chickening out in the OP.

I think it has to be Langer. Not a huge fan but man, you have to admit his golf has improved with age.

I would give the nod to Stenson. Perez has been playing some very good golf, he's more confident, and doesn't beat himself up as much as he used to, which takes away a lot of that tension he would carry around after a poor shot. It will be interesting to see if he can sustain that level of play.

LOL, points gained metric.

Doesn't mean a lot when you start so far back, or does it prove the "long game" is more important??????????

Perez has definitely gotten better as he's aged and mellowed out (relatively speaking), but he's no world beater. There's a couple of players over 40 I'd pick to do better than him in majors.
