This should be a fun thread

Only on GolfWRX, a 15 handicap can say they hit a driver 300 yards and don't you dare question it, but DJ (#1 in the world) hits a drive 300 and "its the wind, or its downhill and gets roll".

Yours?

"Hello, I'm a +3 capper on my 4th set of PXG irons this year.  My ss is 150 with the driver, but I only carry it 320 with very little roll out.  How can I get my spin numbers just right?  I called Tiger but when he called me back, I was already talking to Sean Foley".

To be fair... DJ and all the pro's get to hit into fairways which are manicured better than 90% of the greens any public course might have. His average carry is around the low 300's with his low 180's ball speed so.... ya, it probably was the wind, or a good bounce. How many times a round do you get 30+ yards of roll out?

Maybe 340 wasn't the right number. I will edit it, but I do see people acting like DJ only hits it 270 and gets a bunch of roll. He still carries it 300+

He certainly can. It's just not every single hole that he's 340 yards away from the tee box when he gets to his ball. I certainly wouldn't question a 340 out of him, but I think most of us know it's not the norm for him, or for anybody.

And it really wasn't all that long ago when a drive over 300 yards was freakish long.

Today, it's ho-hum

There are more posts accusing everyone here of claiming to drive 300 yards , then there actually are of people claiming to drive 300yards.

The average distance thread typically starts with a few guys posting things like "I drive it 240" , and then by post #4 or #5 someone will post "well I don't hit it 300yds like EVERYONE here" (even though no one has posted that they hit it 300 yet). By the third or fourth page there are only usually a few guys claiming 300yd distance and probably 10+ satirizing the notion that everyone claims to hit it that far.

The irony of course is that the shorter hitters seem so infatuated with distance, despite the fact that there are also countless threads where they claim to beat longer hitters who all seem to lack course management skills

So long hitters don't exist, unless they are being beaten by shorter hitters in a passive brag thread to illustrate that distance doesn't matter

I agree!!.. not that many threads with the high claims...and yet to see a 15 capper who claims they hit a 300 plus drive, without heading to the sushi bar to celebrate with poisonous puff fish liver.

I know a few guys that can hit it as far as DJ, but they have no idea where it's going when they take that kind of cut.  Whats most impressive is that he can hit it that far swinging within himself, shape it, and be incredibly accurate.

I hit it as far as DJ once. And my SS is under 100.

Helps when you push it onto the adjacent roadway......

Except on the ClubTechs threads. Everyone needs TX because X feels loose. But your point is valid. It seems like most folks admit to being a bit shorter than the so called "typical Wrx'r".

Honestly, on the course I grew up playing in Wyoming 30+ yards of roll out happened on nearly every drive. Everybody at our course thinks they are a huge hitter. Until we go play somewhere that actually has more than 1" of rain over the course of the summer. It is a real humbling experience when you do not get a ball bouncing around like a wounded jack rabbit. My average drives where I live now are easily 30-40 yards less than when I go back to visit home. On the plus side, playing greens that are soft enough to actually hold a shot make the shorter drives worth it.

This should be a fun thread

Only on GolfWRX, a 15 handicap can say they hit a driver 300 yards and don't you dare question it, but DJ (#1 in the world) hits a drive 300 and "its the wind, or its downhill and gets roll".

Yours?

No it is true, a 15 HC can hit it 300 yards....150 straight out and another 150 dead right.

This is one of my favourite ever comments ever !!

Only on GolfWRX. Where everyone says Titleist "feels" clicky. Yet they were the most played iron on tour.

Still have no idea what clicky feels like.
That's because you play Mizuno.

Very true Ill be changing to back to mizuno soon after quite a while with Callaway

Only 300?  Man ya'll are behind the times, especially with respect to DJ.

At the Sentry TOC on Sunday, he drive the green on a 455 yd par 4, and was 6 inches from a hole in one !  I saw it live on TV with my good eye!

If any of you guys saw it too, then you'll know there was 10 mph wind at his back, and the ball rolled downhill at least 150 yards and onto the green.  But it still counts as a 455 yard drive and the golf media is raving that courses are now obsolete, (as if just anyone can do what DJ did).. smh.
Experience - What's leaned just after you needed it most

Only on WRX would there be so many guys who admit how excited they get when they hear the UPS truck. And only on WRX would there be so many people who are so indecisive about the best hybrid and fairway wood.
