Bob Parson is an absolute a** and anyone spending that kind of money on golf clubs deserves to be ridiculed

I am in no way justifying the cost, if this is accurate, but how is this different than any other luxury good?  I don't understand why people seem to be personally insulted by the price of PXG clubs. Are these same people just as fired up that some people choose to buy a $100k Patek Phillipe watch instead of a $6000 Omega or $100 timex?  I personally don't care what people choose to put on their wrist or in their golf bags, but if it makes them happy then why should they be ridiculed for it. I guess it means, if anything, that they can afford to lose more money to all the rest of us on the course.

Agreed
I spent $250 a club (CDN) on my t-mb's ... well they were technically free (in my mind anyways) based on shop certs ,, but hey to each his own
some guys drop $20 million + on an older rare Ferrari, to each his own.
8 grand on a bottle of scotch !! That would get less usage than a set of irons
Every man can spend his cash as he sees fit

Those things you've just listed are not being made anymore and actually appreciate in value.  You can't make more of that 40 year-old bottle of scotch from a distillery that no longer exists and you can't make more 1960s Ferraris.

I would love to see the numbers on PXG's entire line.  Cost, margins, number of sets sold, advertising dollars, and tour staff contracts.  Is this really a true business?  Or is this just Mr. Parsons cash draining hobby?

My guess is likely the latter everyone in here knows golf equipment is a low margin business.

If this buyer had held out, maybe he could of gotten a set that was assembled to his satisfaction.

You think you're living a great life, and then you realize there is a market for a $900 iron and wonder what you did wrong to not be that market.
I don't care how rich you are unless those are made of all titanium or plutonium those are ridiculously priced.

I have PXGs but spent about $200 a head for them are they worth the extra money I don't know.  They do feel solid and K know I won't lose money on them.  If I was paying $350 with shaft and grip I wouldn't buy.

Played with a guy who had the irons. He was a great ball striker. If he wants to make an investment in his game and he likes em then all the power to him.

Really interested in getting wedges once these scratch-offs come in.

I'm gonna order two sets as backups for the vacation homes that I don't own yet...  You've got to fake it til you make it, right?

Seriously though, there are folks who will spend the money just because they can. I've seen several sets of the uber pricey Honma and other exotic JDM offerings at the public courses and driving ranges I frequent in LA. I'm sure somebody will show up with a set sooner or later.

If these perform as good or better than my Epics, I will consider picking up a set.  It is quite pricey but if you pick them up early enough, its possible to not lose too much in resale.  Hopefully they improved the black finish a bit more.  Maybe they learned a few things about TPE injections from the TM P790.

* Update : If this is just cosmetics, no way...but if these are 100% CNC milled and give superior performance to my Callaway Epics, then ill probably pull the trigger.  My PXG local dealer gives me a great discount

I'll help you out, they don't.

At that price, I wonder if a fitting is included at their studio, VIP treatment with dinner and a round of golf.

Thatís the misunderstanding.  Nobody hates the people who own them.  This is an equipment forum. Guys will comment on a good value when they see it.  And likewise on a poor value when they see it.  No hate involved.

Exactly.  For the cost of these PXG's--and keep in mind they're not customized beyond being clones of what Bob himself likes--you could have a set of Yoro Mizunos built exactly how you want them, AND a set of 1/1 Don White irons, again built exactly how you want them.

They're a poor value.  Pointing that out doesn't equal hating.

i know a few guys here that have them and they're all basically retired guys with nothing else to burn their money on. one guy has enough disposable income he bought a golf course.

they're all good guys that i enjoy playing with...but i agree i certainly raise an eyebrow every time i see somebody with them.

If I ever got randomly paired with someone that owned that set of irons, I would politely have to decline the pairing. I can't imagine the type of person that would spend that amount of money on something so ridiculous. JMHO. Flame away.
I got  paired with a kid that had a normal set of PXG's last year in a Gap match at trump national philly. He didn't have a job, just played golf there pretty much every day. Needless to say i smoked him on his home course. I met 2 people that have played PXG and they were both a*******.

Nice sample size.
