That's over $6500 more than two cars I've owned in my life. Do they come with a happy ending after every round?

They certainly arenít marketed toward me but $900 per iron (if true) is an absolute joke. Itís one thing to offer a premium product at a premium price but itís another thing to charge $900 an iron.

Absolutely no reason to spend that much on a set of clubs.  Except if I win the Powerball or Mega Millions this week.  lol  These prices are laughable.

$900/iron!  I actually want this to happen, just to see if they sell them.  Kinda like BBB pricing $500 for sneakers, still haven't seen or met anyone who bought a pair.

If Charlie Murphy was still alive PXG would be getting sued. Smart of him to wait until after he was gone to grab the name.

If I ever got randomly paired with someone that owned that set of irons, I would politely have to decline the pairing. I can't imagine the type of person that would spend that amount of money on something so ridiculous. JMHO. Flame away.

I would love to see the numbers on PXG's entire line.  Cost, margins, number of sets sold, advertising dollars, and tour staff contracts.  Is this really a true business?  Or is this just Mr. Parsons cash draining hobby?

You think you're living a great life, and then you realize there is a market for a $900 iron and wonder what you did wrong to not be that market.

The better question is how low would these clubs have to magically drop your handicap before you would consider paying $6,500?

I am in no way justifying the cost, if this is accurate, but how is this different than any other luxury good?  I don't understand why people seem to be personally insulted by the price of PXG clubs. Are these same people just as fired up that some people choose to buy a $100k Patek Phillipe watch instead of a $6000 Omega or $100 timex?  I personally don't care what people choose to put on their wrist or in their golf bags, but if it makes them happy then why should they be ridiculed for it. I guess it means, if anything, that they can afford to lose more money to all the rest of us on the course.

Agreed
I spent $250 a club (CDN) on my t-mb's ... well they were technically free (in my mind anyways) based on shop certs ,, but hey to each his own
some guys drop $20 million + on an older rare Ferrari, to each his own.
8 grand on a bottle of scotch !! That would get less usage than a set of irons

Allow me a little rounding:  14 clubs at $900/pop=$12,600.  Throw in a logo bag and a hat.  13 grand.  If an ultra premium golf course was $500 in greens fees, I would take the 26 rounds of memorable golf with my current bag.

In terms of watches, if it has a mechanical movement then the Patek Phillipe and Omega are going to be demonstrably better than a Timex in terms of accuracy, construction quality, and resale value.  Not to mention materials used for the case and band.  For these particular PXG's, if I could afford them (and I can't) I would want to know what about them makes them demonstrably better than anything else in the PXG lineup to justify the increased cost.  This is about double what a normal 3-P set from them would cost and from appearances they look to be the same type of design and construction.  What about them would set them apart performance wise from the rest of PXG?  Or anything else?  There's probably a good marketing answer but doubtful there is a good technical answer.  I just think that these aren't aimed at someone wanting ultimate performance but rather at someone who wants others to see them in his/her bag and understand what they paid.  Which frankly is one of the reasons someone purchases a Patek Phillipe as well but they are a better timepiece than a Timex anyway.

Watches are for the most part, purely aesthetic. Bob says his clubs perform better and have better utility. Itís not just a looks issue with Bob. I will admit, I think PXG has some of the most aesthetically pleasing clubs around. Itís the performance that is the issue for PXG critics.

If these perform as good or better than my Epics, I will consider picking up a set.  It is quite pricey but if you pick them up early enough, its possible to not lose too much in resale.  Hopefully they improved the black finish a bit more.  Maybe they learned a few things about TPE injections from the TM P790.

* Update : If this is just cosmetics, no way...but if these are 100% CNC milled and give superior performance to my Callaway Epics, then ill probably pull the trigger.  My PXG local dealer gives me a great discount

I can see the complaints with the marketing as I think it tends to be obnoxious but my point was really that people often choose to pay more for luxury goods that often perform similarly to items that cost a fraction of the price. I view PXG as a luxury brand. I've tried them against all the other clubs out there and didn't see a remarkable difference in performance for me. I'm just saying that the hate for people that make that choice is extreme in my opinion. If you have a distaste for the man behind the clubs or the brand's marketing tactics that should be distinguished from the person that chooses to play the clubs or spend more than you would on any particular item.

Personally I wouldn't be caught dead with such cheap clubs.  They'd laugh me out of Bushwood if I showed up with those PXGs.  Strictly for the plebes.  Go big or go home is what I've always said.  That's why I game these.

Nobody buys expensive golf clubs like I do.  Period.

You think you're living a great life, and then you realize there is a market for a $900 iron and wonder what you did wrong to not be that market.

There's also going to the be people who are in that market and will have no reason to spend that $900 per iron as well as those who want to look as though they are in the market and will try to justify spending that same money. It's a strange world that we live in these days.
