Not sure if this in the right place but seems an odd fit... Cleveland are great but sure Callaway would want to keep him. Also saw his driver specs on Twitter but anyone know the rest of his bag?

His WITB is on the Cleveland web site:
Srixon U65, 18* and 20*
Z 965 4-P
Rtx 3 wedges
Z star XV

His driver must be a one off. I can't imagine Jamie using (and keeping the ball on the planet) a driver designed for forgiveness.

Callaway 816 Alpha DBD 16*; Diamana Blue 70g

I am really surprised by this. Jamie seemed to be a good fit for Callaway.

I'm surprised as well given Jamie is the 100% polar opposite of the market Cleveland is trying to reach with their first driver in many years. Very strange indeed.

Edit: I posted before I read the WITB. So he signed with Cleveland/Srixon which makes sense. Is he trying to get more sponsors exemptions into tournaments this year and play golf?

Edit 2: I looked at the site and they're definitely marketing the LHB driver hard with him. Seems odd still.

He's not relevant on the mini tour let alone PGA Tour.  I wish him well in his career but right now he's not moving any needle.

I think I understand what you are saying but wouldn't a driver designed for forgiveness help him keep the ball on the planet? Am guessing you meant a driver that is draw bias.

Am guessing like most Cleveland/Srixon staffers, he has a limited club deal (12 or so) and can alternate his driver and putter.

He ain't making $$ from tournaments.  Officially made ~$7,600 in Canadian Tour and $0 for PGA in 2016 and 2017.

Might as well cash in while he can hit it long:  - You wanna pay me to play a driver and pitch it? DEAL!!!!!

With his ball speed, a 'forgiving' driver would make it worse?? Too much spin would hurt him?? And the draw bias!! But I think his driver is NOTHING like the ones in retail. The rest of his bag looks really solid.
As for why he left callaway...maybe his contract was up and Cleveland was the only suitor? He does have to pay bills...

He had to try playing, couldn't find the grid in long drive anymore. The last 3 Finals I saw on Long Drive, he wasn't even close.....

He probably hits those u65's as far as the tour average for driver. With his speed, he probably shouldn't hit as much driver, similar to Finau.

I remember reading that the Cleveland Classic was a underappreciated sleeper in the distance category. I'm wondering if they're going to try to change the perception of the brand more in that direction. A couple years ago, there were a couple bombers playing it and getting good results. That was in '01, so not sure if he had gone to a Cleveland driver yet.  He did have the Cleveland Quadpro 19*, that he got a hole in one with, in that Championship

Tom's used a Ping TiSi driver when he won the PGA in '01.

No such thing. COR was maxed out years ago. All drivers go the same distance. Not sure why people keep falling for this marketing nonsense about driver distance. It never ends.

The way I see it is that he hits his custom Laucnher driver super long then goes to his Cleveland wedges (arguably their strong suit) on most holes.  Lots of good exposure there, plus the Z Star XV is a super long ball that should help the brand as well.  Sounds like a good match to me.

The idea that a "long driver" endorsement means anything is an acknowledgement that it's all marketing spin. I think everyone knows that the key performance characteristics are maxed out and have been. That said, certain Cleveland models have built unexpectedly strong followings more by word of mouth and solid performance than by marketing in my opinion.

I can't remember ever seeing an ad for cleveland drivers or seeing the hold a demo day. I'm not sure who even carries/sells them, so it does draw attention when they have models that build a grass roots following.

Just the dedicated page on the website we've all looked at is pretty valuable. I'm also guessing he will be in magazine ads before too long. I'm guessing his contract wasn't for insane $ so it's probably a smart investment. TV time isn't everything and someone playing a certain brands clubs can still pique interest. Albeit, not as much as if they were winning on tv. But don't underestimate the power of online and social media marketing, that's today's world. Regardless of if he's a good tour player or even winning long drive comps anymore, he's still arguably the most widely recognizable name ever associated with long drive. I really don't think this was a bad move for either Jamie, or Cleveland.

interesting. he wont be winning anything any time soon. i was surprised by some highlights that i saw of his round at a PGA event his swing speed was only 126. while that is very impressive, it was not what i thought it would be and only marginally higher then the longest guys on tour right now.

It's over 10 years ago but Cleveland had an ad campaign for the Launcher Comp that was a very well done spoof of the ED ads going around by claiming to cure Trajectile Dysfunction.   That and the Frank the Headcover series are my all time favorite golf ads.

interesting. he wont be winning anything any time soon. i was surprised by some highlights that i saw of his round at a PGA event his swing speed was only 126. while that is very impressive, it was not what i thought it would be and only marginally higher then the longest guys on tour right now.

He’s just trying to play. I’ve watched him swing a 45” driver 145 mph. But that won’t help him so he’s dialed right back. If he ever needed it, he’s got more gears to grab than anybody. As you said, 126 is still faster than just about anybody out there.

seems like once you dial back you start to lose those gears for ever. Maintaining that high of a swing speed takes swinging as hard as you can all the time. not the goal any more so i wouldn't be surprised if he just didn't have it anymore.

It may be a one off but I could of swore I saw where he or Cleveland posted he was using a new Hi Bore

The site says the HB is in his bag.

Also, Dynamic Gold X700!?!?! Wow that's a new one for me.

X7's have been around for a while - they're for the elite of the elite in the shaft loading category. I believe he was playing them hard stepped in his LD days.
