His driver must be a one off. I can't imagine Jamie using (and keeping the ball on the planet) a driver designed for forgiveness.

I am really surprised by this. Jamie seemed to be a good fit for Callaway.

I'm surprised as well given Jamie is the 100% polar opposite of the market Cleveland is trying to reach with their first driver in many years. Very strange indeed.
Edit: I posted before I read the WITB. So he signed with Cleveland/Srixon which makes sense. Is he trying to get more sponsors exemptions into tournaments this year and play golf?
Edit 2: I looked at the site and they're definitely marketing the LHB driver hard with him. Seems odd still.

I think I understand what you are saying but wouldn't a driver designed for forgiveness help him keep the ball on the planet? Am guessing you meant a driver that is draw bias.
Am guessing like most Cleveland/Srixon staffers, he has a limited club deal (12 or so) and can alternate his driver and putter.

With his ball speed, a 'forgiving' driver would make it worse?? Too much spin would hurt him?? And the draw bias!! But I think his driver is NOTHING like the ones in retail. The rest of his bag looks really solid.
As for why he left callaway...maybe his contract was up and Cleveland was the only suitor? He does have to pay bills...

I remember reading that the Cleveland Classic was a underappreciated sleeper in the distance category.
No such thing. COR was maxed out years ago. All drivers go the same distance. Not sure why people keep falling for this marketing nonsense about driver distance. It never ends.

I can't remember ever seeing an ad for cleveland drivers or seeing the hold a demo day. I'm not sure who even carries/sells them, so it does draw attention when they have models that build a grass roots following.

Just the dedicated page on the website we've all looked at is pretty valuable. I'm also guessing he will be in magazine ads before too long. I'm guessing his contract wasn't for insane $ so it's probably a smart investment. TV time isn't everything and someone playing a certain brands clubs can still pique interest. Albeit, not as much as if they were winning on tv. But don't underestimate the power of online and social media marketing, that's today's world. Regardless of if he's a good tour player or even winning long drive comps anymore, he's still arguably the most widely recognizable name ever associated with long drive. I really don't think this was a bad move for either Jamie, or Cleveland.

He’s just trying to play. I’ve watched him swing a 45” driver 145 mph. But that won’t help him so he’s dialed right back. If he ever needed it, he’s got more gears to grab than anybody. As you said, 126 is still faster than just about anybody out there.

seems like once you dial back you start to lose those gears for ever. Maintaining that high of a swing speed takes swinging as hard as you can all the time. not the goal any more so i wouldn't be surprised if he just didn't have it anymore.

Also, Dynamic Gold X700!?!?! Wow that's a new one for me.
