Some are throwing out the idea that Breed didn’t like that the Golf Channel bought Revolution Golf and focused on their instructors.

Ding, Ding, Ding!  Winner...

Don't know about the "like" part but owning Revolution Golf and not having it on TV wouldn't make sense.  I'm interested to see what this brings to GC in the future.

But what do I know, I like "old skool rap music.."

Yeah, best of luck to Breed, he was good at stretching it out as long as he did with a program for the general population of golfers.

I enjoyed some of his segments, however, every time after I watched his show, I felt like over dosed with caffeine.  Did not enjoy listen to his high pitched voice for more than a few minutes at a time.
I agreed that the instruction show should be on a rotating base with multiple talents.  I prefer to see different face and listen to different theory , say, every month ?
G.C. should have the top 100 teaching PGA on the show as guest host every week, love to see that.

Michael Breed did an excellent job at showing to find ways to fix a golf swing and still try to help each individual. Only thing is, you had to stay in rapt attention to cherry pick the one best for you. His rapid fire approach demanded use of a DVR.  His energy and enthusiasm will be hard to replace. Some people have a good TV persona and he did it well for many years. I will miss him.

I'm happy to see The Golf Channel finally promote a modern non-binary rebel who dares to wear these glasses on TV. I wish xer the best.

I liked Breed I thought he did a good job as far as teaching.  Maybe a little too hyped motivation wise for TV golf instruction, but I picked up a few things from him. Not a huge Foley fan but will watch and see, excited to see some stuff from Cameron.  I will say I am not a fan of the whole Revolution golf thing.  I signed up for the free account and it's worth about what I paid for it which is nothing.  They do hit me with about 2-3 emails a day though.  I can't see folks wanting to pay what they are asking for video golf lessons.  Somebody may subscribe and think its awesome, I just don't.

Doesn't matter at all if they work with a tour pro or not. Leadbetter has worked with plenty of them and dude can't break 80. Foley is the reason Hunter Mahan now only lives in our memory.

There's only so much that can be "taught" without someone observing YOUR swing. I might not like all the shilling breed did for titleist but I enjoyed the show and a lot of his tips made sense. Especially for a newbie like me.

It's tv I just hope foley will be as entertaining and energetic/passionate on air.

I think you're conflating teaching abilities with playing abilities.

Anyway, Foley teaches Rose (2013 US Open, 2016 Olympics), Si Woo Kim (2017 Players), recently turned pro Cameron Champ (2017 Trans-Miss), and taught Tiger in 2013 (5 wins, returned to #1, Player of the Year). Breed must have quite the stable of players I don't know about to claim Foley "isn't half the instructor Breed is." I don't think Foley is the snake-oil salesman some make him out to be, he's getting some impressive results.

Q&A: Foley talks TV, Tiger and working with his critics

Quote

PGATOUR.COM: What excites you about the new role?

FOLEY: There’s a lot of instructional content, but very rarely do we get to hear what players are working on, how they break courses down, how they practice, what they do. A lot of amateur golfers, they don’t have time to go to the range and change their swing a great deal. This lets them see how these pros do what they do.

And I’ll do some stuff where I’ll be sitting with say Notah (Begay) and Brandel (Chamblee) live from the Masters in the evening, just to give my insight as an instructor and someone who has been around the game. I have a good relationship with a lot of the players out there, and I know their coaches and know what they have been doing for years together. I think I can provide the viewers with a unique insight as someone who has spent the past 10 years on the range and traveling with these people.

Sounds great!

Couldn't agree more.  I have nothing against Breed but the few times I watched the show, it seemed very much in the vein of a Golf Digest made-for-TV quick fix.  I realize that is pretty much all you expect when trying to put together a one-size-fits-all television program, but I find that kind of thing completely useless, and suspect that it hurts more average golfers than it helps.

I enjoy Foley and am always interested to hear him speak about Tour players.  The bolded parts above sound excellent! 10/10 would watch

Tour players in your stable do not equate to being a great instructor. Which named instructor do you think would not have gotten similar results from that list of players?

I agree that Breed is a tv version of Golf Digest...hottest tip of the moment and takes whatever odd thing a player who won that week does and preaches how it will help your game...annoying.  That being said, he is engaging and I actually do like some of his putting ideas.

While I'm not a huge fan of Foley's, I think if he goes into course strategy and why it's better to play a hole a certain way and how tour players strategize, it could be interesting.  However, if he starts telling people that they need to pin the back elbow to their ribs and feel more pressure on the lead leg at the top, I may cancel cable.

Breed seems like a well intentioned nice guy, but if you take all his tips and drills and try to form them into coherent thought, your head will hurt more than your ears did listening to him.

Best thing to happen at Golf Channel since the end of original Academy Live or at least the last 10 years.  And, by best thing, I mean the fact he's gone.  The only thing that could have made this better is if Golf Channel had simultaneously announced that the clown, Martin Hall, had left with him.

Bring back Academy Live with different hosts each week so you can see different types of instruction theory, not the silly little flotation devices from Hall or the gimmicky "Look at me, I'm high on caffeine" approach from Breed.   After watching Breed's 1st episode, I told myself I'd give it one more shot.  When the 2nd episode was equally as bad, I flipped the TV off and have never watched ankther episode. While I'm not a big Foley fan, at least the instruction will be approached from an educated and scientific view instead some guy acting like a 9 year old who just had a box of Jolt cola.

Hmmm, is that a subtle dig at Chamblee, perhaps referring to when Billy Horschel had the spat with him and called him a "ghost on the range"?

Stop picking on Brandel. Yesterday he taught everyone that people with flat swings suck at putting while those with upright swings are the greatest because of their wrist angle with the driver.
