Moving to some form of online teaching with Titleist and FJ on Golf Digest’s site and an expanded Sirius XM show. That was a long run on the GC, especially considering he lived in NY and would fly to FL every week from January to December to tape. Some are throwing out the idea that Breed didn’t like that the Golf Channel bought Revolution Golf and focused on their instructors. The Golf Channel will have their own shows with Sean Foley and Cameron McCormick now, but not sure if it will be during Breed’s time slot. http://golfweek.com/...t.co/srZFwm5V7C

I like Michael. He knows his stuff and is clear and concise. Never did implement Trackman-style teaching though, just a limited use of simulator numbers.

Best there is, a big loss to the GC.  But why would you ever want to fly to Florida from NY, just leave NY.

I'll watch less Golf Channel from now on. Can not stand Foley. I'll watch live events and reruns like they are showing now....Shell Golf. But that's about it.

I was never a big Breed fan but thought he did a serviceable job. I understand Foley rubs some the wrong way, but I'm excited to see what him and more so Cameron McCormick have to offer. If you follow McCormick's @AltusPerformance on Instagram, they have some great drills and examples with their impressive stable of players. I do wish "Playing Lessons" would become more like the "Playing Lessons with the Pros" of years past, which was phenomenal television.

Hmm, I was curious if this was going to happen after seeing that Foley was getting his own show.  I didn't watch everyone one of Breed's shows, but I would tape them and go back to the ones that I thought would apply to what I was working on.  He did have a simple way of explaining things and he always showed how to use props from around the house to practice during the winter.  I thought that was the strongest part of the show.

Glad to see this change it's long overdue.  Have to keep it fresh and rotate teaching professionals.  I've met Michael on a few occasions and he's a nice guy and clearly good at what he does so i'm sure he will continue to rake in the cash with instruction

It was good with the sound turned off and CC turned on.  Dudes voice was like nails on a chalk board, but his instruction and tips/ideas were solid.

Big fan of Michael Breed. Excellent teacher; full of enthusiasm, knowledge, and the ability to convey complex ideas simply. Sorry to see him leave TGC. I’ll have to look him up elsewhere. Best of luck, MB.

I’ve heard a lot of people say Breed is a good guy, and I believe that, but he gets on my nerves (does that make me a bad person?). He reminds me of my brother-in-law’s jack russels. The worst thing was when he was talking about the long drive competition and proceeded to show the viewing public how to do it. If that monitor he uses is correct, his example rolled just out to the 250 mark.

Breed was fine in small does. Little too hyper for my tastes, but talk about going from bad to worse. Foley still reminds me of “Terry the Toad” in American Graffiti with his mannerisms. Cameron is just plain borrring...

Although he was sometimes too excitable for my tastes, I really liked Breed. Met him a couple times in person and he could not have been a nicer guy. Also thought he did a great job in the commentary booth when he was on for the PGA Professional events that he did.

More importantly I think he was a fantastic GC resource for the general golfing public - and by that I mean the 99.99999% of golfers that dont read internet forums lol. He had a very simplistic - maybe overly so - way of breaking things down. Simple concepts. Simple drills. Training aids included pool noodles and coat hangers and sleeves of golf balls. Things that literally anyone could follow.

I just see Foley as the complete opposite of that. I consider myself a fairly smart person and I dont understand half the stuff that is coming out of his mouth. I feel like I'm going to need some sort of advanced calculus cheat sheet to watch a full show of him in it. He's definitely not my cup of tea.

Hope I'm wrong. But I really hate this move.

Agreed, his show appealed to the average golfer.

Golf instruction through the media has always been a "flavor of the month" type of thing, so I see why GC wants to mix things up with some new faces and new approaches.

After watching him for years, there's no question that Breed understands the golf swing.  His "high energy" style, while not my cup of tea, plays very well on tv and frankly makes for really good television.  It's tough for one person to have enough pizzaz to carry an entire show and he pulled it off very well.  I'm sure in a one on one situation, he is a bit more toned down.

Conversely, unless I'm in for a huge surprise I just don't see how Foley is going to be able to connect with the audience the way Breed was able to.  On screen the guy comes across like a combination of Stuart Smalley and Caspar Milquetoast. Maybe he can bring on enough high profile students to keep the show interesting but to be honest, most tour players aren't the most engaging figures, either.  I'll be shocked if his show isn't a total snoozefest.

Great! So now Foley can hurt more golfers backs!
Lol first thing that crossed my mind this morning when i saw his mug on the screen. Surprised it took so long for someone to take a swing at that t-ball.
LOL... I was surprised that someone didn't before I did either. Like you, it was the first thing that went through my mind.

Victim!

I really liked the show and recorded every single one and watch it at least once before deleting. There a years worth on my DVR right now. Somehow his tips always were timely with what was ailing me and I would head to the range the next day (or later if it was a recorded episode).

I remember his first show. The show never became what I was looking for or wanting it to be, but I'd watch from time to time and it was always entertaining. Seemed like a great guy, really like his putting book and thought he was pretty much the golf channel in some ways for the audience and it will be the poorer for losing him.
