Love watching the vlogs that include drone shots from above - really gives a different perspective of the course/holes.

Could not help but wonder if anyone here has a drone and has taken it to the course with them? And if so was it as much fun as it seems it might be?

Yes, I admit it - I was sniffing around eBay and saw some great prices so really peaked my interest.

So, if you've got one what model is it and share some of your golf course experiences. (Also could not help but wonder how many courses frown on having them around)

Thanks in advance!

I had a Mavic Pro I had used a few times this year in Phoenix.  It was cool but after 3 or 4 times I lost interest.

Kind of thought it might be one of those things that loses its allure shortly after you attain it. Lots of work getting everything all charged up and packed up I would imagine.

I think I could make a decent case for getting a drone to torment my dogs with, but virtually every other application I can think of would lose its charm fairly quickly.

I have a buddy with a drone which allows you to set height and camera angle. You can then lock those parameters and set it to follow you. That would be pretty cool to have it follow you through your round and record your shots.

Does it have some sort of obstacle avoidance? Would hate to be cruising along having a great time and suddenly have a beautiful oak jump out and grab it.

I'm not too sure. I'll ask him to see. I know it's a high end professional one so I assume it would have to have something like this.
