Well, it's a rainy day here in Pa. Course is closed so I'm sitting in the man cave listening to my Bulldog snore, watching bad bowl games and decided to do my first WITB.

I've never had much interest in doing one since most clubs don't stay with me for long but I have a good feeling about what I've put together over the past year or so and think I may be locked in for a while.

I thought it might be fun for me to look back on this to see if what I think now holds up, so I'm listing them in the order I think they'll stay in the bag the longest.

1.Piretti Cortino 2, 36.5" and 2 flat. I spent a good part of the summer testing putters and this one winning out surprised me. It has been lights out for me since day 1. Prefect fit for me on our extremely fast greens.

2. Srixon z965 pw-7, z765 6-4. I know all about the love of the 45's, owned them for a bit myself, but 65's were a much better fit for me. I have tour issue x100's in them, playing 1.25" over standard. These have been in the bag for a year and will be (I think!!) for all of next season.

It gets harder now.....

3. 2016 TM M2 Tour Issue, deep face (lie: 58, loft, 17.1, FA 2) Tensei CK Pro White 80tx, tipped 1/2" . Although this is the newest member of the family, I have a good feeling this may be my fw unicorn. I had the retail version of this head and loved everything about it besides it's hook-ability. The new set up is HIGH, long and I can move it either way. It's 42.75".

4. Ping G400 LST 8.5, Kuro Kage DC TX 70, tipped 1/2". The past month has been a Ping shootout with the LST and 9 dialed down to 8.4. I had the 9 longer and was so blown away by it's forgiveness and results on the course. The LST was giving me better numbers on the monitor but I wasn't giving the LST enough on course time. Once I gave it my full attention, the LST was a clear winner. Everything the 9 head was giving me but lower spin, lower ball flight, longer. All good. Playing it a hair under 45".

5. Cally Apex, 20. This would be way higher on the list if it didn't look like the face was going to disintegrate. The old guy in the bag but probably the most consistent. I have a tour issue x100 steel shaft in it. For those who say they can't find a hybrid that doesn't hook, this doesn't hook unless you do something silly.

6. Vokey SM6, F50.12, F55.13, K60.12. All with tour issue s400. The 50 and 55 are both 3/4" over, the 60 standard length. These are only last since I change wedges often and if they aren't in the bag all year, the 7's probably will be. I've left Vokey's many times, I've come back every time. Our club is generally wet and the F's do everything I need. The K was another surprise. I've always played my 60 with a much lower bounce but for what I use this for, flops and bunkers only for the most part, it just works for me.

Ball- 17' Srixon xv's. Best ball I've played. I'll be loading up on these over the winter.

Well thought out and considered bag. I just know that one day a 2016 M2 deep face 3HL will end up in my bag too.

Have you considered graphite in hybrid? Don't see many using a X flex steel in a hybrid these days.

Hybrids have always been difficult for me to trust and play well with. I’ve had many with all types of graphite shafts that should fit but never worked long term. The best results were always driving irons with the same steel shaft. But they had their limitations. So I decided to try the Apex with the x100. I am looking into building something with the new Tensei white hybrid shaft that just came out.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Great set up all the way around. You are very correct on a couple of things-- That hybrid will surely not hook with that shaft unless one is King Kong or something. The second thing is the Bulldog snoring they can darn sure snore. I have a Boston Terrier which is kin to your Bulldog and she can darn sure snore. Actually you got me thinking I do have a hybrid head like yours and some S-400 TI pulls. May put it together to try today

Nice set up.  Weather has gone from rainy to freezing here in the Northeast.  GolfWRX will have to satisfy our golf itch until it warms up a little.

I've never been much of a feel guy. All about performance for me but having that nice feel to them is an added bonus.

No doubt! We got 2" of snow today that'll likely be on the ground for weeks since the highest temp I see in the long range is 29. :angry22:

Two updates already...unfortunately. The unicorn 4w I had built is just going too high for me. My course is windy and I can see issues waiting for me. Shame, it's an incredible stick. It may be better in the hands of someone looking for more height.

Will P. is building me a 19 degree g400 hybrid with Veylix 988x. I've been testing this head a lot recently and it's just easy. We'll see.

Great setup. How do you like the Ping G400? Looking to possibly transition from a 915 to something more forgiving.

Thanks!

I played the Epic SZ all year and it was pretty good to me but the G400 is more forgiving. Just not a lot of movement. Put anything close to a decent swing on it......high and straight. I really love the way the Ping sets up behind the ball.

How tall are you? I noticed your irons are pretty long but you said the driver and 3 wood play shorter. Im 64 myself and have messed around with heavier and shorter shafts in my wood with some positive results. It seems being taller with longer swing arcs the heavier shafts help out.

I have to say that even though I hadn't been  much of a feel guy myself, until the last few years I love having the blades in the shorter irons since I can spin them almost at will, and can really dial them in. With the longer clubs I don't have to worry about losing it since I didn't hit it perfect but they do work for me so I can agree with you there

6'4" as well. The length is just a comfort thing at address. My tempo is quick and heavier usually helps smooth me out a bit.  My irons are in the d7-8 range and I do struggle taking some off when in between clubs.

With the woods, length isn't as big a factor comfort wise and I like to keep it a lower swing weight. The driver and fw are both around d4.

I'm going to be on trackman next week and I'm hoping to get the M2 HL on there to see if it's a solid fit. I love everything about the set up other than the really high ball flight I've seen. But the weather was pretty rough the days I had it out, so we'll see.

Seeing what you were fit into out at TM makes me want to go the heavier weight shaft in a bad way!  Congrats on the trip and thanks for the reply.

Thanks! Today was a bit of an eye opener for me. Yes, I went heavier with the driver. After that was done, Perry fit me for the rest of the clubs. I'll share more later but the irons are just too heavy and long. I'm working way harder than I need to.
