I am the Men's and Women's Head Coach of a D3 School in Central Illinois, and I'm looking for recruits for the Fall of 2018. I took over the position a few months ago and got a late start to recruiting, so I'm scrambling a bit to find a few more strong additions that will help turn our program around.

I’m a coach who has great golf knowledge & definitely superior dedication to my team when compared to many other D3 coaches. My goal is to turn our golf program into a powerhouse that is eventually in the NCAA D3 Rankings. The women’s team is in a complete rebuilding stage. Any level of competitive golfer would be a good addition to our women’s team at this point. I inherited a men’s team that has a solid core, but has been finishing in the middle of the pack so far. I think very good incoming freshman would be immediate impact players/travelers on my team. I’m always keeping an eye on talent for future recruiting classes!

Our program has 2 courses, a total of 36 holes we are able to practice on during the season. When it’s too cold to play we have access to an indoor facility that has 3 simulators and a huge practice green. A lot of college golf coaches would be jealous of our facilities!

I hate coaches that lie to kids and promise playing time just to get them to come to a school. I've had friends who played in for coaches that did that to them and were very unhappy with the teams they played for. I'm going to be very straightforward with the scores on my team and what it would take to be a instant starter/traveler on my team. My men's team has 2 guys that shoot consistently in the mid-high 70s. There's another guy who is in the high 70s-low 80s, and then there's about 4 who average mid 80s. By next year I want to have 5 solid guys who can consistently be in the 70s for me. I would definitely talk to guys who are not quite at this point in their golfing ability but are dedicated to getting better. I am always willing to coach golfers to improve their golfing ability so they can become travelers as they become upperclassmen. For my women's team, I'm looking for golfers that can consistently break 90. I have a couple of recruits that I think are going to come here next season and do that for me, but I need a couple more so that this team can be competitive. Again, I'm willing to work with those who aren't quite at that level yet.

Just a quick note about our team: I played 4 years at another D3 school from 2012 to 2016 and I enjoyed the experience, but the team as a whole didn't always get along with each other, this caused a lot of tension during team functions that made the experience less enjoyable...The team members that I'm currently coaching have told me multiple times how much they enjoy being a part of this team, and I'm honestly surprised and proud of my team's camaraderie.

If interested, please send me a private message for more information. I'm looking forward to hearing from potential student athletes, those with connections to potential student athletes, and those who are interested in learning more about D3 golf. I'm open to any question that anyone has!

Hope to hear from you!   :derisive:

I've heard a similar request from a prominent coach out of San Diego looking specifically for women golfers to fill some spots on different teams.  Seems like there are some opportunities out there for golfers that are being overlooked.

Good luck filling your spots and have a great season.

I'll send you a PM. Depending on ED/EA, I may have a player who is still looking.

And to help the public as a whole - Does your school depend on state funding?

We're a private school, so we do not depend on state funding!

Thanks everyone for the responses! The GolfWRX Community is awesome!
